I need a large circular saw to cut poplar into accurate 6 inch rings .

maybe part of an old American processor that no longer splits . Ideally needs to handle all sizes to at least 18 inch and bigger if possible .

If you are slicing off short fixed lengths is there any reason a bandsaw blade cannot be sharpened to cross cut?

It isn't hard to find a vertical bandsaw with a 24 inch throat  so 18 inch at 8 inch deep could be doable with a rocking table

Could you make a saw horse up with a chainsaw on a pivot and a backstop to keep all the logs at the same length, with a pivot arm to clamp log while cutting, maybe operated by a foot pedal.

My father had to have his thumb stitched on again using a saw bench similar to that.
