I don't want to knock your plans but if your experience is like mine and my business partners you will spend alot more time biulding it then the kids will ever spend in it..

Your kids might be different.. I brought a used Wendy house which I mounted on posts so didn't actually damage the tree, had a climbing wall around it and everything.  They had some fun but not compared to the effort and expense I put in.. Same thing for the willow house.. Never used it..

Best value outdoor toy for us is the trampoline by a mile.. had it 7 years and still used any day it's dry..

It would be great to see some inspiring treehouse pics as planning to make one for the kids. Also, What is the best way to join a horizontal piece to the tree where there is no branch to act as support?

Apologies that this is certainly in the wrong sub forum....
Depends on the branch/bit of tree i reckon. I have used stainless coach bolts and threaded bar ( toolstation) and also hung bits off hooped 8mm wire rope ( going through fat placcy pipe so not to dig into tree) to somewhere up above if there us anywhere. I have also created a sort of brace with 2 threaded bars and some 6x4's to hang a beam off - my idea was to not create a complete constriction in cambium as with a choked cable etc.

You can buy slidey tree house mounts but they are crazy money

All depends on the scale of yer project. Pretty easy to make a post going to ground in places where no suitable limbs
