I'll be at the yard today having a catch up. Back to it next week- make hay whilst the sun shines- ie, whilst the weather is good, people still have money and we're still allowed to work outdoors!

We may have had a major impact on many undeveloped countries in the past, for good and ill I would argue, but China ain't one of them. 

I disagree. The British empire ruined many an advanced civilisation in it's time. 

 

India was a leading economy, an advanced civilisation, before the British decimated country for it's own gain. The Opium Wars with China effectively came about due to Chinese resistance to the British inebriating their population with thousands of tonnes of opium. The British took Hong Kong as a result.

 

I'm not saying that we personally have responsibility for these events - that would be daft. However, the British Empire really did a number on huge swathes of the world and to claim otherwise is incorrect.

Your in the wrong game j you should be lecturing modern history at a university somewhere...if I had your knowledge I wouldn’t be busting my balls doing what I do(even though I love it and wouldn’t want to do anything else.

I'll take that as a compliment, but you overstate my prowess. I have a functioning, low level pub quiz type general knowledge. Nothing more!

When you cough you spray WATER droplets. If it were AIR borne, 2M distance would do FA, just being in the same room as someone would be enough for you to catch it.

As did the French, Germans, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese, even the Belgians. Each of these nations had the same aspirations, we where just better at it.

For years we were feeding ground up cows and sheep to our live calves in order to fatten them up good and quick so we could chow down on them.

 

This resulted in the cattle contracting BSE (Mad Cow Disease) which got passed to humans as CJD. A horrible disease that caused much human suffering and many deaths, including the 'clean up' slaughter of more than 4 million cows in the UK.

Correct, but we responded to the disease in the correct way and we changed our habits in light of what they could cause. If the Chinese could do the same the world would be that much better for it.
