We still had this in our blue book chainsaw training when I was at collage, it's called the split level cut now I believe but was still know as the cushion cut then, collage only had the one and was only used on a few demos but it did work.

The one we got to try was covered in a alloy plate with a piano hinge along the leading edge to protect the bag itself

Anything new to add on thoughts and experiences of mechanical felling wedges?

 

Definitely considering one to keep in the truck for occasional use. The Logbullets have 600kg pull winch on them which is useful but only as a bit of assistance on leaners. Wondering if combing that with the mechanical wedges might be a good solution? A mate is kindly lending me his Eder 1800 power winch next week, so might spunk my hard earned cash on one of those instead.
