UPDATE/CORRECTION re.'HSE Alert - Zig-zag failure'

seems odd that someone thought it was broken and that it wasnt.
do zig zags fail to engage if they are not maintained ?? by which i assume they mean cleaned and moving ok.
anyone else have this problem?
just curious, i dont climb on one myself.

I guess if there's enough sap and dirt in the pivots then it won't spring up, same as a biner. Then it would get stuck in 'down' mode.

I think it's disappointing that this was a poor example, because the idea of the AA sharing incident and accident reports would be a positive way to improve safety in the industry.

The Health and Safety Executive  (HSE) is an arm of the state and has a great deal of power.

 

Claiming something is from them when it is not, is pretty serious, IMO. Its like inspecting your own car and then claiming its been MOT'd or writing to your neighbour, but making the letter appear its from the police.

 

Basically its fraud.

And hammer the companies who directly employ these idiots who climb on poorly maintained gear and fail in their duties already laid out in law under “The Management of Health &Safety at Work Act”

They’re already thinking about that scenario, legislation for having to have 3 main anchor rope will be coming out next year.
