It's also a Mark 2. Wonder why it wasn't replaced in the recall

It's a mk3 and there was no recall on the mk2, they just extended the warranty to 10 years. Back to the accident and pictures in question...the issue is the top plate spring has failed, nothing to do with the cam

Sorry, I meant that the picture wasnt a Mk 3, not the accident

That's what I meant, I have a mk2 and having had that and the picture side by side, the pictured zz is definitely a mk3. Just look at the metal around the roll pin on the top link, mine is half the depth of the one pictured

The most worrying part to me about this situation is the date on the paper is the 10th December!!! It has taken 3 months for this to be published, how many uses of a zig zag have occurred in the World in those 3 months?

could another potential accident have been prevented if this info had been available?

If this is a true failure and was reported then this information should becoming directly from the HSE why have they been so quiet given recent events I would have hoped they would be keen to broadcast the issue to as many climbers as possible as quickly as possible. If the AA had been told why are they not passing on the information? I thought they had arborist saftey as a priority

Just to clarify, although misleadingly titled as such, this ALERT did not originate from the actual HSE. It was a term used in the principle contractors report...probably shudda been 'H&S' or 'SAFETY'

Cheers,

Paul

It is worrying though the lack of clarity, the technical inaccuracies.

In fact I’m so confused I’ve literally disregarded it as none sense.

Should reports like this not be written by those who are familiar with the kit?

Sorry if I sound harsh

I can pretty much guarantee there is some bullshit involved here.

I had a play with my ZZ mk3 today and there is no way this could happen with a single spring failure, it’s backed up.

@AA Teccie (Paul) I would seriously consider taking this down before Petzl sue your balls off.

I know you have done it in the best of faith, but you need to check your sources.

Dec 10th?
