Moving house in the Spring and would like to have the drive and front lawn done with resin, this is supposedly porus and therefore doesnt need planning. Anyone done the same? any pointers or probelms? Will be using a contractor as do not have the time or equipment to do a decent job myself.

Done well, it's a highly durable and very smart surface, though I've always found resin drives a touch slippery when wet.

Just be careful who you get to do it. Avoid pikies and cheapskates. Sounds obvious but apart from the quality of the product used, the prep is very important, more so than with tarmac. Unlike regular tarmacing, resin needs a perfectly finished base. Tarmac top coat will fill out and smooth any imperfections in the base course. Resin won't. It will follow the base and every dip, hump and whacker plate mark will show through and hollows will pond.

Make sure it’s resin bound and if you want it to be less slippery in the wet, they can improve the mix with little glass pellets. As above definitely go with a specialist and make sure it’s on top of tarmac for best results.
