You are charging far too little, dont undervalue your experience and knowhow after 19years in the game, think of the coming years when you won't be as fit or keen to go out in the pissing rain, with tennis elbow and sore knees !

hell guys... you lot have been busy on here. i guess with all that extra earnings you don't need to work nights as well !! So thats pretty decisive then ... christmass hike in day rates it is !!

in answer to some of your querries - i've owned the mog 12 years, its been pretty kind to me in terms of running costs but i'm more than aware a big repair bill is always never far away. Im under the Vat limit due to relocating a few years back and not having a totally full diary - which is probably why i've kept the day rate low.

Thanks for your imput.

Don’t buy work, your way too cheap to start with and the problem with this is yes you will build a customer base up but they will be used to cheap prices, as soon as you start putting them up they will think your “getting expensive “ start as you mean to go on!

Going in cheap is one if the worse things not you can do, it’s rookie and companies will know it, they’ll feast on your cheap rate and bin you the moment you sneak it up.

Made that mistake take years ago.

strangley some of the large and established companies this way have started it and not just the new daddy bought my kit new companies

FYI I really good but boring exercise to do is work out your raw costs, it’s easy for subbies but for Paye staff when you add up wages pension ppe, and divide it by working days in a year you’ll get a figure of how much per man you need to make

Definately 2 climbers turning up fr a good days work is 600 squids of anyones money. I always point to the kit when customer winces at the price n say " yr looking at over 50 grands worth of kit, there on yr drive missus - that gas boiler engineer turns up wi his lil tool box n you happily shell out same  fr a boiler service......."  k
