Perhaps it's because you do it in such an aggressive manor, there are ways of getting your point across without trying to point score at the same time, that's only my guess.

  1. People on the whole want to take only, and give nothing back. Its always been this way, with hundreds of people browsing the forum whilst very few post.
  2. The answer is simple, post more.

In a nutshell.

I think some posts on tools and techniques would go down well.

To help revitalise the sub-forum, why not write some?

Not a dig Wisewood, people moan about the lack of activity but do nothing to encourage it.

It can be: and always used to be on the old site. I just hoped everyone has grown up enough that it wasn’t necessary. Obviously not.

Sometimes Steve the lack of moderators/active moderation is quite obvious. And I'm not casting stones in any way. People are busy in life but over the last couple of years the lack of moderators has become very much apparent., to the extent that even some of he membership are trying to reign in the more out of order posters.

There have been 1617 registered members log into the forum in the past 30 days (85,000 visitors in total including registered members). Imagine what the results would be if every member committed themselves to post just 1 new topic each per month?

I don't post much but I have learnt an absolute stack from this site and have spent many hours reading its archives. I think I can commit to at least one new thread per month. In fact i've put it in my diary!

Here is my first attempt at an owl in a log. I just followed an instructional video of you tube by a guy that I follow.

The chainsaw work was done using the battery dolmar saw my dear wife bought me for my birthday.

The mirror I did as a surprise for my wifes 50th birthday.

Cheers

How did you do the lettering?
Hi Steve, the lettering on the mirror was just done with a router. The large letters I stencilled on first then routed out freehand. The small lettering of the song, I printed the song out to the size I wanted, then glued that onto the wood, I then routed the letters out. Finally I then sanded the remaining paper off.

I hope this makes sense.

Good stuff harvey, interesting setup. How do you find carving with a top handle?
