Thanks for the advice I’ll take my time, I’m looking for a bigger trailer if you know anyone selling one.

I would sell in bags customers cannot grasp a cubic meter used to sell mine loose on a transit tipper which is 4 dumpy bags struggled at the time to get 150 a load put them in bags for 50 a bag couldn't chop them fast enough. I charge 60 a bag which holds about .5 of a cube. you would get a cheap little trailer to get a couple of bags on for a few hundred

It's funny and depressing at the same time. It's like offering someone 10 apples for £1.50 or 2 apples for £0.50 and them opting to take the 2 apple offer. Basic arithmetic is lost on most people.

Stick to the cubic meter sales if you want a better quality of customer. Builders bags and you are in to "whats your best price mate" brigade. Plenty out there who can tell the difference and we have found them to be a hassle free kind of customer.

Chatting to a mate yesterday who does a bit of firewood.
He told me he'd just visited a pub with two log burners.
My mate looks at the builders bags of dripping fresh felled and split logs.
"They are £5 a bag cheaper than you" pub man says.
"But my logs are dry" mate says.
"But it's cheaper" pub man.
My mate gets back in his van and drives off.

I've said it many times here, but heard it first from Tom D. 

 

It is possible to make a good living from it, but you have to be bloody organised and operating on a decent scale.
