Which month do you start using your stove again?

We have had one of the hottest summers on record in the UK - when will you be firing up your stove again to combat the colder nights

Most likely in Sept. (Norway). We have 35, 1000 litre pallets filled with firewood ready for winter.

Had a couple of burns already. 2ft thick stone walls can leave house feeling a bit damp even in summer

Lit the fire this morning, which was quite prescient o me, because it bes a gui dreagh day here today with that wonderfully wetting NI "drizzle".

Actually mild despite the drizzle, but awfully dreary nonetheless.

It's not unusual to have a chilly evening in September, even in the South, although hopefully it's not until mid October I'm burning regularly. By sometime in November I expect to be running both stoves every day in order to keep the Ch off and the wife happy. Still enjoying the sunshine and pleased to not be fetching wood in and feeding one or both for the moment though!

 

My open wood stacks are uncovered all summer but I'm now watching the weather and will tarp them before it turns wetter.  That's my cue to bring some in and to split a bit of kindling in readiness.

This plus sometimes just to dry things out even when it's relatively warm.
