Jerry Can (20 litre ) For Chainsaw Filling Up At Petrol Stations

Hi everyone.

I've been trying to source via the web about how much petrol (if any) you can fill up a 20 litre metal jerry can from a petrol station, and also transported once filled in my car for domestic use, ie. chainsawing.

I know it's a lot of petrol but it would be stored in a horse shed in a field in a rural area, as and when needed for the chainsaw, rather than frequent trips into the nearest town.

Would anyone know of how much petrol you can fill up a 20 litre jerry can?

Thanks

I really depends on your garage, here Asda has signs up saying you can only dispense 10lts into approved containers. But I’ve seen boat peeps filling more, after all the petrol station in a marina where boaty peeps want fuel..

Ive seen arb guys filling up 10 or more 5lt petrol containers on the back of an arb truck. At a Tesco station

so just pop in to your local filli;g station and ask.

your allowed to store 30lts at home. But there are a few rules they like you to adhere to. And if storing in a shed with no ignition source, your be fine.

I will find the link and add it

edit : p in the w beat me to it while I was typin

You are more likely to have bother when filling up at a supermarket.

Some people believe that petrol from a supermarket isn't quite as good (doesn't have as many additives?).

Either way, I don't buy petrol from a supermarket.
