bit hard to call this one Rob as every now and again you will buy a chain packaged as stihl BUT its a oregon chain in the package, old stock may be but stihl did pack oregon chains a few years back lad who works with me bought 5 chains packed as stihl but 3 of them where oregon chains,????,

More likely the dealer made the chains up and put them in the first box he come across.  Stihl have their own chain factory and have done for years.

I'd say Stihl but I did try the Oregon speed cut or whatever they're called on a friend's 550 and it seemed really good. Not owned one to know about longevity etc etc

Speed cut bars are made in China so chain may also be made there.

I rate Stihl chain over Oregon, haven't done any scientific comparison but after changing from Oregon to Stihl semi chisel in the middle of the day once on my 261 I definitely thought the Stihl cut faster and smoother.

I also decided that chain isn't my major running expense so if the Stihl chain makes me feel better then I'll just buy it. Pointless cutting cost on chain, like putting cheap tyres on a sports car.
