It is now more difficult than ever to claim adverse possession, as indeed it should be: if it’s not your property, then keep out and show some respect!

Ordinarily, I’d agree. This is council land though. I’d say I was performing a service to my fellow man by weakening them.

Slightly different but I know of someone ( a tree surgeon ) who built a house inside a barn and lived in it for several years ( 10 I think )  . Eventually he pulled down the barn from around the house and shazam there was his house he had been living in for 10 years or more .

Just wonder if the council sent him a bill for 10 council tax? Could get him into an interesting argument - to one department "no, I just built it, so owe no tax", to the other "Its been here for years, let ut stay there"

I think the statute of limitations would mean they could only bill for 6 years
