Twin axle versus tri axle trailers - pros and cons?

I do most of my day towing trailers and my tri axle with the crane on is a dream to tow, I would always choose a tri axle over a twin axle unless the loss of payload was going to be a major problem.
Not worrying so much about load distribution on the tri axle is a huge bonus for me as I unload pallets at different addresses.

My 14ft Unsinn still draws compliments despite it being 3 years old with 30,000 miles under it's belt. Very nicely finished. I visited the factory a couple of years ago and the production process is clinical. 

 

Looks like either tri axle UK trailer or two twin axle European trailers!

Have you considered a tiltbed? I went for a TB4621-352 with removable 'mini ramps' so I could overhang if needs be. Despite the mad delivery time I was impressed with how easy to use it was.

Batesons were quoting 5 weeks. Their tiltbeds look lovely, but again, £4k plus with the sides.

20 weeks they must be joking, I would ring another dealer and find out there delivery time, could be the one you are dealing with doesn't sell enough to get hold of them as and when they need them.

don't trailer manufacturers send their chassis off to be galvanized?..  I mean I don't exactly know to be honest but I imagine they mostly do..

 

which begs the question, why complain about the finish if its not them that did the galving?..

I believe Ifor now have their own galvanising plant, or so I was told.

Certainly not cheap especially compared to a standard flatbed with a ramp. Hard to justify in many cases. They do seem very safe though in un/loading. No tipping points as you come off the ramps with tracked machines etc.

The state of some of the trailers I saw where bad and should of been corrected. Thought Ifor did all theres in house.

Well I wouldn't know one way or the other, maybe they do maybe they don't.   anyway, who's really bothered aboutt galv looking a bit untidy in places.  as long as it covered it's all that matters..

I did ring around. It seems to be Ifor. 20 weeks is crazy. If they weren't offering me a good trade in I'd go with a different brand.

 

I was told it was an unusual trailer - Insoecced it with the standard electric winch but other than that it was bog standard.

 

I've had 7 Ifors over the last decade and as a brand they are going down hill. Quality and customer service has gone out the window. They've gotten too large/dominant and lost focus in my opinion.
