All the best in your new quest   .

Seriously though Steve  .... you will still be  looking at the trees when your out and about ....and  saying to yourself ...   that tree needs dead wooding ,  Ooh a nice little reduction there .  Not to mention when you hear a chainsaw nearby  and have to do the mandatory  drive by .   Don't sell ya saddle   Boss .

Seriously, as a gun climber for hire it ruins you.
I’m loving it again because I’m climbing a lot less, and match fitness doesn’t matter because they’re my jobs and I know I can’t climb at commercial pace for a full day anymore.
The lads are right, the itch to climb will get stronger as you get fatter....
You could rule the over 40’s comps!

Same, I’m enjoying climbing a lot more now I’m no longer a freelance climber, I will do the occasional day for someone but only if it’s nothing too gruelling, tennis elbow has really knocked my speed

Hope you have great success in your new venture, Steve.
I’m only doing a couple of climbs a month now. I’ve handed the running of our tree business on to the landscaping dept at Betel.
I’ll be concentrating on PR and fundraising for our charity. One of my last climbs was an oak dismantle filmed by the BBC for songs of praise (makes a change from crimewatch and rogue traders) featuring my story, some tree work and some stuff about Betel and the work we do with recovering addicts.
