I recently rebuilt my 540, with the heavier rear av spring and mount, so far its holding up much better. Its a good powerful engine, its such a shame its built into a plasticine body :(

Mine is a MK1 with MK2 bits on . As you say a big improvement .

I've a 2014 mk1 540 still on original rear AV spring ? only recently had issues, slight carb fault easily fixed. Only done 110 hours though they tell me.

Also have a 2511, both are good, both have their quirks.

I'm running the same setup. 2511 has been faultless, husky pretty similar, rear spring goes somewhere between 3 and 6 months. Don't know why people say they're fragile, mines had a few tumbles, last one being about 30-40 foot and it cracked the fuel tank seam but cant moan at that. £80 for a new one from skyland and had it sorted in an evening. Its recently shed 2 cooling fins, don't know if that's related so thinking of getting a new saw in the new year. might try a 201 just because i've still never even picked one up!
