Anyone else got a rush of jobs to do before Christmas?

It seems like everyone and his dog wants a bit of me at the moment. I'm booked up now until the holiday period starts.

I've no doubt that come January I'll be kicking my heels waiting for the phone to ring.

what is it with Christmas approaching that brings everyone out of the woodwork?

Afterall it's only a few days holiday.

I hate the fact people set it as a deadline to get stuff done.
It's a 70year old tree ffs another week isn't going to make any difference, had someone ask me last week if I would get conservation area permission quicker as it's nearly Christmas and having the tree gone before would look so much nicer for family coming over...... No!

new incoming jobs just stopped last week, eerily quiet, hopefully pick up this week now the black friday nonsense stopped. However 2 big jobs I prices earlier in the year came in, one I priced in may,  Can I do before xmas? Yes.. except they've not bothered applying for permission and in a conservation area :confused1: and another I priced in august that didn't even respond to say got the quote wants to know if the price is still valid as wants to go ahead soon. Can't puzzle some people out

We're moving jobs to next year with no way of getting them done before christmas. Gray Git is spot on these things have been here for years so whats the problem now . March is funny too getting things done before bird nesting season having known about the job all winter . Much better than last year as we started the year with one job on the books .

oddly enuf ferra small outfit like me i've been very busy since sept. We smashed in quite a few 'big ones' this winter too.  One in particular reared it's head 12 months after i first quoted it so i went back to requote in October and added on another £150 per day thinking 'I won't get away with that' but i did.  The job started out as a 5 day poplar fest and turned into 10 days so I did well out of it.  We have every day booked up from now till christmas eve and we will be back on it before new years eve.  basically we are booked up till Mid Jan.  I have started doing a larger proportion of commercial work versus domestic which i prefer as it bluntly means alot more money.  I'm trying to squeeze in  3 large jobs before yuletide along with other smaller jobs so lets see how i get on!

'This time next year Rodders.....!'
