Battery’s go pop too dude , and that’s with out smoking tabs ... like I said earlier I’ve never seen any saw explode ... there was a time I heard of a lad who I showed a trick too that if you emptied a tiny bit of fuel out your saw tank on some dead pine needles and fanned with the exhaust it would get a bonfire going real quick with out a blower and litres of diesel.. unfortunately his saw went up when he put the exhaust up close after dumping half a tank on some scotty needles, I guess petrol vapour on a naked flame ... I’ve fuelled up daily with a tab going as break is a tab and refuel and get cracking again and never ended engulfed in a ball of flames , not saying it’s a bright thing to do ...but there it is.

You're missing the point Matty. If you smoke while up a tree, you will certainly die.

I remember my small felling  course our tutor had a hard on for setting the refueling area away from sources of ignition. The day of the assesment the assesor ( an old forestry fella called graham) sat puffing a rollie as we topped up the saws in the designated refueling area....:P

Strictly speaking, it’s advisable not to start saws near refuelling areas.

Ive has one saw combust after refuelling due to a small tear in the fuel line and a loose fitting plug cap. Can’t get much unluckier than that.

Melted the bosses coat smothering the flames on the saw.

Smoking on fueling I don't know about but saw a bloke set himself on fire after spilling fuel when filling up a cut off saw and cutting some mettle, think he needed skin grafts on his legs after that.
Drugs testing, we have had 2 in last 4 years on site for 2 separate big clients, one it's just the offender who is off site the other and larger of the two has a 3 month time out for whole company should a member of staff test positive for drink or drugs which could be very costly indeed so to say I'm carful about who go's on this clients sites is a understatement.

Wow, that’s heavy.

Finding a drug free tree guy can’t be easy.

This job is mostly staffed by young men, a large proportion of whom party hard one way or another.
