I didn't even think.. Can a mod delete this thread please:blushing:

Don't delete the tread, its an excellent idea to share security ideas without compromising your own personal security measures.

Its worth understanding the basic functions of a Physical Protection System (PSS).

There are a myriad of different physical security measures available that can Deter, Detect and Delay an adversary stealing your kit. However without some sort of response from you, its only a matter to time before an adversary defeats your security system or perimeter. For response to be effective it must occur before adversary action has been completed, and ideally before the penetration of your outer perimeter layer has taken place.

In layman terms unless you can respond (or Disrupt) to an incident within the time period that the 'delay' factor of your system offers, you wont prevent the incident or catch the culprits. Given enough time any PSS can be defeated.

I disagree.

I am not going to discuss my security but I will know what the thieves are doing before they do it.

Forget about alarms, what you need is security cameras that alert you when someone is prowling.

Thieves can have what, 4,5,6 hours etc at least breaking in and cleaning the place out before someone might see them using traditional methods.

Maybe I phrased it badly, the point is that you need enough time for you and mr Smith and Weston to get there. If you run the defence in zones it gives you chance to get there and, "intervene"

Let them trip the alarm (silent) then beat the snot out of them when you get there, but it's al about TIME.......

Leprechaun system: have some broken saws lying around, but put away nicely so it looks like they are working tools, also with a chain through the handles. Keep the real machines somewhere else. Many of us will never be robbed, so full on Knox level security might be jumping the gun. In the event of theft, the dummy saws will be taken, and as we know, crims like to hit the same place again, and they will be wize to the switch the next time - So ramp up to max security before it happens again. If you never get done over, great, you saved a pile of money.

If I only have one shed/garage where do I store the good stuff?

Yeah I agree there, it is about slowing them down but knowing they are there to do something about it.
