  2. Thanks Mick . She seems to improve with movement . Also I do give her shoulder some attention . When she is ike this I lift her in and out of the truck rather than let her jump . I have just got back from a medium walk with no obstacles to negotiate , just walking slowly and about half way round she eventually overtakes me . So for her movement seems to improve the situation .
  3. Well there's obviously some correlation between tree size and root spread, so in theory yes - but there'll still be roots in the lawn, unlikely to do anything structural though. People seem to worry about roots much more than the actual problems they cause.
  4. I don't understand? If you paid the money upfront, what was your guarantee that he would even show up,let alone inspect it?
  5. Back in the real world, for around the same money some trades wouldn't have bothered with the inspection and got it signed off anyway, so I'm told I on the other hand try to do things the right way.

  8. It's a soulangeana or similar which should stop at about 6-7m tall. As said cutting it back will result in ugly 'lollipop' growth but you can minimise that by cutting back to a strong sideshoot, i.e. small branch. Now is a good time to do it unless the tree is drought stressed due to the weather of the last few months in which case either water it a lot or wait until there's been good sustained rain. For the future regular light pruning is the way to go; that will generate much less ugly reaction. Keep it small, don't make it small.
  9. James. Why would anyone deliver to you free logs ? It costs in fuel to get to you. The firewood guys pay for good clean wood. The bio-mass guys pay for off cuts. Only the tip charges for disposal of brash ridden branches and scrub. Where is the advantage in dropping off logs to you ? If I could dispose of a 20 x 3.5m Leylandi hedge would you be happy with that ?

  11. Good Morning All. @Stubby How old now ? @Mick Dempsey You're doing all you can and at least he's still trundling about.
  12. Morning, many years ago I bought a sectional set of poles with a saw head, hook and cutter head on it from a company in Basildon in Essex UK called Stanton Hope, unfortunately the company is no longer in existence but I have a problem with some of the poles and want to replace them but I don't know what make they are. Would any screw end poles fit? Or does anybody know the make that the poles were that they sold? Unfortunately I'm unable to get any pictures of the poles as they are in Essex and I'm in Norfolk. I realise my post is a bit vague but I'm hoping someone may have an idea. Thanks
  13. morning, its hard seeing your dogs age, I second an osteopath, it does wonders for us to get put back into place so the same for animals. My eldest boy is home this weekend so its been nice having him home, we had breakfast and did so me chores yesterday and then walked the dog where I gave him a go of the drone, he's always been into things and good with technology then we came home and watched Happy Gilmour 2! I thought it was great, then Chineese for dinner. A proper good day.

  15. Morning, up too early after waiting for no news. She gone for the tea. Missouri, Guts.
  16. Morning all, Happy Sunday.
  17. Morning all. Bitt miffed to wake early this morning, one chance of a lie in. Was up and at 'em yesterday to help my mate sort his chimney, another mate dropped scaffold for us in the morning and we had it done and dismantled again by evening. Stripping it down was interesting, when the top rails were off I was feeling quite exposed, far less comfortable than being on spikes at that height taking a top, and I'd already taken to free climbing the outside to get up and down rather than the ladder as it felt far better. What you're used to I suppose but strange how the mind works. I've a lot of time for Igor Mick, some good memories of the stuff you've said about him on here, particularly one night when he had the wanderlust and I remember how frustrated you sounded, pacing around the house while awaiting his return! All the best to the wee bugger, I'd say he's a bit of an arbtalk legend! Have a good one folks.

  20. Put a picture up please. Guns with a story are much more interesting. I have one that I bought years ago from the son of the first owner, who after surviving WW1 died a few weeks after coming home by falling off a horse.
  21. Or He was afraid you were a rank amateur and you wouldn't pay if he refused to sign off substandard work? I have gotten this with tree reports. If what I recommend goes against the wishes of the client they kick up a fuss.
  22. As an aside, Igor was in a bad state for a while, arthritis in his hind quarters and a shoulder problem that meant he started limping after 50 meters, it was pitiful to watch tbh. He was/is already on two types of medication, and seemed depressed by it all. Went to the vets in desperation and she suggested a bit of osteopothy. So I took him and she did half an hour of manipulation, while he looked at me rather bewildered. Anyway very quickly his shoulder problem disappeared. He can still only do 400metres or so before he tired out, but it’s enough for him to do his business and generally have a sniff. He’s in decline but now he’s functioning and seems content. Might be worth finding one in your area? Oh and morning all!

She can go to bed right as nine pence and in the morning she is holding her left leg in the air . There is nothing in the paw . I massage her shoulder which seems to help some what . Think we will have a restful day ..
