  2. It's true, talking to people in the engineering world the Chinese have made so much investment in everything from education to automation and factory infrastructure that they undoubtedly can make good stuff, or if we want it cheap they can make it cheap.
  3. Well…strictly speaking, it’s not is it. Reading this thread it is an abbreviation of the German word. If people assumed (wrongly) that it stood for something else it doesn’t change anything.
  4. Yes , only 12 volts on the forward Herschmann plug when 'rollers on' speed is reached.
  5. I’ve clean the plug but it was already spotless,is there a switch on the stop bar that could cause a problem , also the display read rollers on as it should , should there be 12v at the hershman plug only when chipping speed is reached? I appreciate your help on your day off 👍
  6. Ok , when you have the Bulgin plug separated look carefully at each plug , there is a castellated nut with four raised lands around the outside of the pins , carefully using a small screwdriver , loosen these nuts (if you're careful you can fully unscrew and remove them) and then invert the plug so the pins are facing downwards and attempt to waggle the pin portion of the plug to see if there's water there ? The continuity test i previously attached needs to test out correctly or the problem is from the plug back to the control box. If you have an airline then I would suggest blowing out the plugs or alternatively you could use contact cleaner spray.
  7. Spoon and bowl carvers rate it. Clogs are made from willow mostly.
  8. Today
  9. Always wondered what it was like, down side is its a drum chipper , long expensive blades
  10. When I got the house in France I bought a chinesium version of the Greenmech CS100 (Geotec Pro) to get the orchard back into production. I have used it far more than I thought I would, it has worked out great for narrow access/long drag work, or when the customer is happy to keep the chip, it has chipped trees far larger than you would think without dropping a beat. It has paid for itself ten times over. When I move it on I will replace it with a similar size JoBeau to run alongside the 6” road tow. Drum instead of disk all day in my opinion, minimum of 14hp.
  11. And back to Gordon Lightfoot when you’ve enjoyed both of those all the way through.
  12. Unless you’re more of a Combichrist man.
  13. Elsewhere in industrial music.
  14. no doubt good, but the M500 is also mentioned above
  15. One of those was my first chipper. Heavy by today's standards but what a machine - brilliant.
  16. pleasant

    Stihl 461

If you need a new piston and barrel kit, then I have one on my shelf. It was fitted by us, as part of an authorised repair as a groundy had neat fuelled it. Only a 6 month old saw. We quoted the price, and as a Stihl main dealer we naturally fitted a (eyewateringly expensive) genuine piston and barrel kit. Ran it up for no more than 5 minutes or so to test it, turned it off then rang customer to collect as was ready. Customer (the boss this time, instead of the groundy who brought it in) came in and said he had changed his mind and didn't want the work done. Explained we had already done the work, so too late. Spat his dummy out, threatened this, threatened that etc. In the end I stepped in and told him to come back in a couple of hours. We then removed the new piston and barrell, and gave it back to him strippped down and told him never to come back. So if anyones interested.....check the Stihl price. Stupid money, but if anyone needs one? Will need a base gasket and from memory one ring as it caught when removing the piston, but it's as new with- like I say, only a few minutes testing use under no load.
  17. I had a stihl ms201t that wouldn't run on aspen or stihl moto mix from new, had to replace carb at an expensive cost ,still ran rough after replacing it ... I guess the odd saw can end up being a knacker
  18. Plug nice and dry and clean , getting cont, 4-5, but nothing on the black push switch or the bar pulled back , but reverse is working?
  19. Time Left: 6 days and 21 hours

Very little use so in perfect working order. This will extend the PPT pole pruner range by 1.7m to reach those hard to get to cuts. Will also fit the earlier Oregon offering which was the forerunner of the Echo. If you can find new old stock on these they’re just under £200. Cash on collection from Chelmsford area or you can arrange a courier and I’ll get it packed up for collection.

  20. Bulgin plug pin locations and testing continuity ...pdf
  21. Ok , can you locate the black plastic 6 pin Bulgin plug , it's in the loom between the control box on top of the infeed chute and the machine wiring loom , located in the area behind the battery. Separate the two halves of the plug by unscrewing it and check the pins are clean and most importantly 'dry'. I'll see if I can find the Bulgin plug test sheet showing how to carry out a continuity test at this plug.
  22. Not a problem bud !
  23. Sorry Andy morning brain and eyesight 🙈😜👍
  24. Oh . Ok Aled . Im not " spud " by the way . That is Steve Gum . I am " stubby " Andy Stubbs in the real worled 😃
  25. I've no idea Spud, as I couldn't see a brand like Zama on it i was suspecting a Chinese alternative.
