My initial complaint btw, was just regarding normal post, letters that fit through a letter box. So not even considering the complications around parcel delivery. The postman simply hadn't even visited for 2 weeks.

All too common themes with most products and services in this brave new world of hours, from both the state and private providers. There's a Blur song about all this somewhere......

Royal mail good in my area. Had 2 parcels earlier this week via DPD were dropped half a mile away, and told left with neighbour, house owner never saw them and were photographed outside gate and were then thrown in garden. App said left with neighbour Maggy at number 1.which was totally wrong. Have emailed them but bet I get no response.

Amazon very much depends on the attitude of the driver, some are excellent, some really couldn't give a feck, Evri are defrauding their customers and their drivers, the scam is to charge the customer one rate for the weight and size of the parcel, then claim it measures and weighs less, so it falls into a lower delivery bracket rate for the drivers, so drivers get paid less for deliveries and run the risk of running overweight if they aren't careful. dhl are again dependent on individual drivers, as are most others, they are all competing in a race to the bottom to be the cheapest service, instead of providing a better service and rising to the top. Royal Mail and Parcelforce already have a well established army of drivers, almost all who know the areas like the back of their own hands, and my local posties have become friends after many years of deliveries, whereas other delivery drivers are a different one each time, often not even able to open a gate or ring a feckin' bell, I have had people bring me parcels that were found in hedges and gateways some distance from my actual address. trying to get a resolution from any of these is a waste of time as the enquiry is handled by ai/ bots who are feckin' useless and just go round in circles that fail to even recognise the problem let alone solve it.

I expect they're too busy stabbing each other in the back, and thinking of new ways to pissoff even more people.

Easier to transport stokboard for me Pete. I can get 40m of roadway and the loader on the back of the Transit. Trakmats are great, but they are bloody heavy!

I went away from stoc board to proper mats. Worth the investment imho and so much better on a slope as they are textured. I have about 20 which is a serious roadway for narrow machines

I worked in a mail centre when I was young. They like to hold back vast quantities of second class. They only get fined once for it being late so they let it sit for ages, it might get sorted by Febuary.. I believe they now include RM48 and RM24 in what they hold back, it'll all be sitting at your local mail centre. Its very much fraud, offering a service they had no intention of delivering. I try not to use them. Amazon are the best for delivery, Evri being slow but reliable. DHL are the worst.

@Mark Bolam Why does nobody on here not use/know about the 6'x4' cow mats?? -I think horse-botherers use them too. A 12mm thick cow mat weighs a fraction of the 6mm Stokboard -I can carry 3 cow mats at a time. Admittedly they aren't as indestructible as our other stokboard sheets, but so much easier to handle, and can happily carry a land-rover and trailer. Way cheaper too, especially if you can find some s/hand ones ! 🤔

We pay their ever increasing tax via DD but like many councils I doubt they have a good record in chasing non-payers. Planning enforcement seems to be rather selective, some people seem to get an undue amount of attention and others seem to be able to do whatever they want.

Do they somehow manage to provide the tax collection and planning enforcement services though?

I recently made an application to change a hearing date. Called the court to pay the application fee. They said they’d call me when they got to my application and take the fee then. OK. When will that be? About five weeks. The hearing’s in three weeks. I heard her shrug. Anyway. I sweet-talked her and queue-jumped five weeks of people. Hardly fair for them. Whole thing’s a mess.

Considering we live in an area regarded as too remote for our councils to provide any services we actually get very good Royal Mail service. Parcels tend to arrive on time and when tracked are accurate. A box is left at the front gate to make their life easier.

I've never understood that considering it seems to be widely accepted not all post is delivered or at least delivered on time. I think the NHS ask you to go digital as they know their post often arrives too late.

I doubt they've given up on the idea, they're just going to play the slow game. haven't heard anything about the requirement for directors to be registered, has that changed?

Put up the bat signal. That needs doing. It’s a bonny hedge. Someone might be happy to do it for some shooting/ferreting permission or something. Good swap for the right person.

Got up early to go stalking. Set an alarm and everything. Can’t find an important part of the operation. Now I’ve put the kettle on and sat down. Another day… Handily its likely location has just flagged in my mind now I’ve mentioned it.
