  3. He's not here. And Dodgy timber cutter roll's off the tounge better 🤣
  4. Just to be pedantic he always revered to himself as TCD not DTC 🙂
  5. As promised and on the basis that I was told twice earlier in the week that "there are a few people that would appreciate seeing photos of that" here's some photos of the 166. I was offered it randomly as my 440 Stihl I abuse has suffered from the piston identifying as a grenade and is "dead" upon moaning about it a mate proclaimed "I've a big saw here I keep meaning to get shot of"..... It was secreted in a corner and rather dusty. We threw some petrol in it and it started 5-6th pull. I'm not sure why, but it felt right and although I'm not a fan of multiple saws I decided I'd have it.... Although I wasn't keen on paying much for a obsolete saw (I knew it would be a abuse and forget saw with non existent parts). I'm not going to say a price, but it was quite a bit under £500. Yes, I know I'm very very lucky. I then rang DTC (Dartmoor Timber Cutter).... "I just want to know how badly I've wasted my money on this 166 Dolmar?" To be told F*** off along with do you mean a 116 and "send a photo". Total honesty occured and I'm greatful to a cracking friend for the advice. Many would of told me it was obsolete and then tried to buy it for a small amount more. So I now had a choice.... Clearly it needs to either be kept for best or sold.... Cashing out is tempting BUT I'm not a lover of people with massive collections who's goal is to buy literally everything and hide it away 😳 and alas that is who's going to pay top dollar for the saw.... Having had a very nice rare tractor in the family that was sold to a "collector" who sold up 2 years later and was unbelievably arrogant when I made contact to ask for a price prior to the auction on it I severely dislike the private collection types. So I'm keeping it (DTC has first refusal if I ever sell) It's going to sit in my living room at home and occasionally will come out and do the odd job. I do intend to take it occasionally to vintage rallies I intend to frequent with classic plant (think cromford, Torquay etc). Onto the saw it's a beast. If anyone has a chain brake/cover kicking around I'm after one as this one has obviously had a brake drum retention issue in the past. Also attached are some photos of a Johnston that I've given to DTC as a thankyou. It was ultimately destined for the skip but Its been on a shelf for a decade because it looked too nice to throw away. Hopefully he can get it going. Hope this thread is of interest and if anyone wants photos of anything in particular let me know.
  6. Did it all get chipped or was some kept as timber?

  10. I was chatting to the client just now, his plumber thinks it's a tank and ballcock issue, so looks like I'm in the clear. I called an electrician friend of mine last night too to outline the problem, he also thinks it would only really be me and the splitter if the house wiring was dodgy as. Thanks for the chatter everyone, I had assumed I was blameless but I thought I'd get some fresh opinions on it.
  11. Is it just me or have stihl bg 86 gone to pot, we seem to be lucky to get 12 months out of them before having to replace carbs and coils ,by the time you buy new stihl parts you might as well skip them unless I do the repairs myself,I’m looking for alternatives or have they all gone rubbish

  15. As we look at building the new website - it'll be more limited in chains we offer as although it's great to have a good range it can be bewildering and keeping stock is hard work... the Panther chains have generally gone down well but we have x4 variations where we should really only have one so in future the below chains (other than 1 or 2) we won't keep stocking because: Mainly folks like the non safety or unguarded chains The P+ chains with top plate marking see to have worked well so we'll only do these in future (apart from in 1/4 .043[1.1mm] and .325 .043[1.1mm] as these are too small to make the process viable) So the below chains we need to clear out - will do for 50% off as long as you have a few - 60% off if you have a lot whatsapp me on 07752145001 if need more info - ideal if you can work out what you may like to buy from the part number - number of drive links a chain has is at the end of each SKU. Yes a little bit a daunting list 😬 I can't seem to copy and paste it on here so that it appears correctly.. Excess Chain List CSB June 2024.docx

  19. As for broad bean any way to stop pea weevil? Sitona lineatus They are reducing my yield alot I reckon as the grubs eat the roots apparently. Last few yrs really wrecked the beans compared to how they were previously.
  20. Good morning Arbtalkers 😊 Dry but overcast ☁️
  21. I bet majority of the goverment atm would be the same. Sometimes the stupidity or ignorance still surprises me also. One thing iv'e noticed recently is some people who have no concept of the interaction of plants with weather/seasonality. Still watering plants when its just being raining and the grounds sodden because thats whats one does? No concept of grass growing faster in spring than winter so might need cut more, & that plants & veg are controlled by seasons. Wondering why tomatoes or apples etc aren't ripe now etc if they can buy then in tesco?
  22. Next time you're round there could you have a poke about where the 166 came out from and find me a viscous unit for a T4 vw syncro 😁
