  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t remember seeing one. Only recall loads of ladybirds, biting and a surfeit of greenflies often getting into the potato salad - couldn’t tell the difference between them and chopped parsley 🤣
  3. No I’ve not been Andy Im just actually popping down to see him now, vessel he’s on is in Aberdeen sheltering for Storm Amy coming in. I think anyone but more likely it will be tourists, accommodation he is building is spot on.
  4. Tip site is far end of carpark, there is a code to enter, call me for access and i can direct you to tip site, many thanks
  5. Very cool. Is he catering to locals or tourists? Have you been out?
  6. I’ve no doubt it is but as I said they are trained for it and why would they be in any way negatively affected by putting a murdering scum bag down. Mark most people whom take on roles where carrying a firearm is involved are fully aware that at some point they may have to use it. Stick to the ROE and you are covered, seems they did that, job well done, all the training worked. Cost of a couple of 5.56 as you say, far better than years in jail.
  7. Rigging Research Report 2008.pdf Kram, this is a few years old now but physics doesn't really change much. Takes some reading but will answer some of your questions about weights, loads, impact forces etc.
  8. Today
  9. I will admit its more that I do not want to employ anyone, I dont have the experience to become an arb business yet. I will do small jobs that are mostly within my abilities, mostly hedge trimming and small tree pruning. If it turns out to be beyond my ability I will get an experienced arb friend down, which as it turns out, I am doing today. Its about 60" where I wanted to do the felling cut of the pole and having a 28" bar, thought I'd trim the side a little as theres bad access that side, garage and rubbish. Found it to be hollow where I wanted my hinge to be. New plan is to chog it down from rope/ladder/spikes.
  10. I have a small Christmas tree plantation. Norway, nordman and some more interesting ones I can't resist planting alongside them that no-one ever chooses! I try to use as few chemicals as possible which means I end up doing a LOT of strimming. I have used kerb a bit soon after establishment, which works. And I've also tried chickens, without much success. (You know how every chicken run you've ever seen is bare mud at the base. That's what I was hoping for, but instead the sward of grass and weeds is pretty much as thick as ever - I think i need 50+ chickens rather than the 7 I currently have.) Anyway, some questions: Does anyone know if Kerb flo / granules is poisonous to chickens? Or to us if we eat their eggs? Can i plant a seedling into ground that has been sprayed with kerbflow earlier in the winter? Any top tips for weed control in (small) christmas tree exclosures? Thanks ! C
  11. Perhaps. Even though they are trained, it's still quite rare for a copper to fatally shoot someone in the UK: England and Wales fatal police shootings 2024| Statista WWW.STATISTA.COM In 2023/24, the police in England and Wales fatally shot two people, compared with three in the previous reporting year, and six in 2016/17.

  15. Morning all, Heading north for a week to see daughter and her in laws. Wonder what the weather will bring.
  16. I work for a hire company, we have run 860i's for the last 3 years or so. Not had any of the above issues. Did have some dashboard water ingress issues, but I think they were caused by over zealous wash bay lads pressure washing the dashboard at close range. The new 635's we have had some issues with fan belts snapping. I personally really rate the avants for what they are, yes the plastics are brittle but they seriously punch above their weight.

  18. Why would you ever give a customer an option to not pay for the job to be done properly? The price is A - full price for a proper job or B - zero, because the job isn’t getting done. If they want to get pikies with ladders in and have loads of mess and shit broken leave them to it.
  19. Nice starting word 🙄😂 Wordle 1,567 3/6 🟨⬜⬜🟩⬜ 🟩🟨🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  20. Morning, some rain through the night, storm Amy is meant to be hitting us this weekend. A day of pricing and pottering for me. Have a good 1.
  21. Very very surprising outcome. Not much comes out of Finland that is not well put together and thought out.
  22. I do not understand the customer not being willing to pay for a groundsman as a valid excuse for not having one. Curious of what you charged for thos job and what the difference would have been to have a ground man's?
  23. Why do you say that? I am listening. I've asked a local arb about mentoring when they get something suitable. I'm looking at ropes and will get one. Thank you for the books I shall have a look. They were previously recommended to me. However at no time of the day did either phone get answered and email got no reply, when I tried before. I assumed they were away, closed down or so busy that they didn't want any more. I shall try again, thanks.
  24. Has rained Iin the night but not blowy yet! Hope it brings you some work but be safe in the weather! Drive home, change the contents of the bag and drive to Caz's returning on Sunday to make sure Tom sorted for Sick Week, his next drag and drive adventures in America. Whack, Sand, Wayne.

  26. Drifting off topic à bit.. This thread has caused me to remember my rigging course (as part of ten weeker at Merrist Wood) My take outs from that were that they concentrated on stuff that you hardly, if ever, used, stuff like horizontal lowering of big branches using two ropes, or an entire day spider-legging branches, I feel that they could/should have worked more on the basics. Long time ago of course.
  27. You can't ring for an appointment any more at our surgery . It all has to be done on line now . People kicked against it initially but it seems to be working smoothly now .
