  1. Past hour
  2. Now we're getting to the crux of the matter. "So if we have 50000 small boats migrants a year and say 30000 of those remain, we now need extra housing for 30000 more people than the year before - plus extra housing for net increase due to legal migrants granted work and study visas." 30000 << legal migrants granted work and study visas. But still, immigration has very little to do with the overinflated housing market in the UK.
  3. No, benefits and job prospects are. So as these are lower in e.g Bulgaria, legal and illegal migration to that country are lower than to England. So with less migrants to find accomodation for there is lower demand for houses in Bulgaria. So if we have 50000 small boats migrants a year and say 30000 of those remain, we now need extra housing for 30000 more people than the year before - plus extra housing for net increase due to legal migrants granted work and study visas. Migrants are the sole reason for UK population growth. The UK birth rate has been below 2 for many years.
  4. Good start today could only be one word Wordle 1,530 2/6* 🟨⬜🟨🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 I changed settings to hard mode ages ago and it actually helps you to not make mistakes.

  6. Thanks. I really liked how nimble and light was my old hedge trimmer. Even though it lacked in capacity to cut thicker branches. Than i would have plenty of work where stihl 140 r would be useful. I wonder if makita uh006 is on par with srihl 140r. If hedge trimmers were not so bulky it would almost be a case to buy two. One small and one large. Plenty of models available on the market.
  7. Yeah, housing costs, front and centre of every migrants thoughts πŸ™„

  9. No, not having that! I pushed them up somehow in the 80's. We had a new build (social housing) 2 bed end terrace of 3 houses in 85/6, Β£18 900, we sold it two years later for Β£38 000, the house building trade took off for 5 years until supply outstripped demand and building almost stopped but prices didn't.
  10. Good morning Arbtalkers 😊 A lot cooler here today 😎

Love my 261C -2015- Mine has a 16" bar and I've never felt the need for more. Heavy on fuel? I wouldn't say so. 2 tanks to every one of oil. Certainly not as juicy as the 881 on a mill. Drinks like Olly Reed P.s. mines ported (2021) and that has made no real change to thee fuel or bar choice.

  20. This side of the island has it for us. Especially the stretch from Chora to Plakias. I know that is lazy tourism but a holiday is a choice thing and we come mainly to do not a lot! Awake far too early again. Will go back to sleep again in a mo, kip on the beach too no doubt! Melon, Collie.
  21. Yesterday
  22. there are lots of immigrants arriving in England, meaning the available land has to support more people, not many immigrants chose Bulgaria, or even rural Italy. Those places with less people, property is much cheaper . Surely without legal and illegal immigration England too would have less thriving economy, but also lower property prices? Rural places in Europe where the young move to cities or abroad for work, thats where the property is cheap. Supply and demand
  23. Immigrants is an almost complete non sequitur. They're an annoying drip from a torn umbrella. The rain is the problem. Immigrants didn't take us off the gold standard. That was the death knell. We weren't as far round the curve on the graph in the 70s as we are now. Imagine what it'll look like as the curve gets curvier. 8:1. Pffft. See how 80:1 feels.
  24. You can get a ferry from Chora Skafion to Agai Roumeli, which is at the end of the gorge. We've stayed there a couple of times, it's very pleasant. The number of people coming down the gorge and straight onto the ferry is astounding. They're nose to tail. I quite fancied walking it but after seeing that I'm not so keen. If I was to do it it'd have to be early in the morning or out of season.

Mine has a 14 inch bar which feels just about perfectly balanced for a 50ish cc saw. 20 inch is 70ish territory for me, especially with oak. I’ll cut pretty much up to 2 foot with it, which is ideal for 90% of the work I do. well done. The 261 is a powerful thing that seems to start well and is easy to work on.
  26. my old man was a machine operator for a while and later prison officer, they were buying nice houses in their mid to late twenties on average incomes, you didnt need planning because there were affordable older houses with big gardens. Unlike today where building plots are .25 acre and the finished build with postage stamp lawn is half a million. So many relying on bank of mum and dad, because immigrants pushed up housing costs. House price to income in seventies and eighties probably averaged four times, its about 8 now
