  1. Past hour
  2. Don’t even get me started on fanny.
  3. What we really need to know is whether the two Dempseys are related! This could get very confusing...Mick Dempsey and Mike Dempsey! How have I never noticed that before? maybe you don't post on the same threads generally?
  4. I've never tried to prove this, but I assume it was basically a marketing ploy by the original sawmills and timber dealers in America. They could see that their cypresses had great properties and were in some respects similar to the highly valued true cedars so they borrowed the name. Just like there are now many trees whose timber is sold as mahogany. I sell loads of spruce as Welsh Oak - works a treat! Oh no; maybe I just dreamed that...

  7. For those that fix their own punctures in the field, a pair of ratchet bead spreaders. Pleasantly surprised. Link Bob
  8. Beechwood are after climbers. Coventry based.
  9. Last shoot of the season. Not too soon. It’s the curate’s egg. Or similar to the adage about the happiest days in boat owners’ lives. Second happiest when they buy it and happiest when they sell it. Before long I’ll be looking forward to it again. The human condition eh.

    A good job well done.

  12. Today
  13. Thanks @Mick Jones yes well it seems that it is not out of the realms of possibilities that the push rods can bend with out something being terminally wrong. Well it was my wife who was tractoring prior to it breaking god knows what she was about, well mucking out without the rear weigh on- makes it a hard job with out the weight as there is already too much weight on the front end.

  15. Good Morning Last of the 5 loads of Oak to collect today. Then starting the cut, split, stack marathon. See you some time late Feb. Have a good un. Play up Pompey!
  16. I'm pretty sure this is a known problem. What I did with mine was to buy an extra fibre washer and fit two washers at a time for a snugger fit. Seems to work OK that way.

  19. Morning all, Taking a load of sweepings to weigh in and pay for getting rid of. Not a lot else planned. Have a good weekend
  20. Morning Team! Dog walk, off to watch Doncaster Knights v Cornish Pirates and a meal in t'Brewshed! Enjoy your time with the family! Geri, Mug, Wire.
  21. markieg31 it may be worth checking valve spring lengths on the bench if you have the valves out to reseat them. Weak valve springs could be cause of bent push rods? Possibly? Mick.
  22. Stay out of this Mick, you’re just confusing the whole thread 😃
  23. It’s just what the Americans named them when they encountered new trees isn’t it? A bit like how they called vultures ‘buzzards’
  24. Saturday mornings are for pack socialisation reinforcement. IMG_4607.mov
  25. Yes I have always regarded the timber of the true cedars to be much the same. Certainly the apparent properties of the ones I have milled over the years are identical. Totally different from the fake cedars of course - ie the cypresses (western red cedar, white cedar).
