GreenMech EVO205 ? Fixed track , SafeTrack or SureTrack ?

Apart from that, how do they chip compared to an ST8 for instance? The forsts chip very well from my experience, only let down by the build quality.

Thowlining paraphernalia recommendations

I also use those round Courant ones. The Stein cube folds itself if there is a puff of breeze in the next county, then it pushes a rod through the webbing after 10 minutes. I've never had a favourite throwline. I hate them all! Especially that "sushi' line. I bought that because I thought it would be twice as good because it's twice as expensive. It's twice as hateful. -

I agree. I had a V6 Ranger at GreenMech and that was a better ride and more/smoother power delivery and a great gearbox. The Toyota is a tad agricultural but it works well enough. Ineos did tell me that fitting a taco wasn't doable which kind of kippered that idea of towing etc!

After a 8" tracked chipper, new. Any opinions, or suggestions ideally from recent use of new models. I ideally on build quality, performance, value and warranty/service

I have a 2010 MS261c non Motronic, non decompressor model, fitted with an easy start system which contrary to a lot of views I'm ok with as I have a few Dolmar / Makita saws fitted with easy start system so used to them. However I bought this saw recently from a tool dealer who used it himself for a while. When I went to look at the saw he drop started it a few times which is the best way to damage them! Anyway I went through the saw to repair / service anything required and when I took the starter housing off the pull start bits fell out! The very end of the shaft which the easy tart bits are fitted has a circlip and this end piece of the shaft has broken off. Question is, what is involved in replacing the easy start housing with a standard start housing? Is it just housing swap? is the flywheel the same?. A replacement easy start housing is a bit pricey, second-hand ones are not that common.

I used an A 550 extensively ( not tracked but road tow ) and the only thing that pissed me off slightly was that sometimes bits of brash ( mostely connie ) used to get stuck under the right hand floating spigot of the top roller . ( RH as you look into the rollers ) This could usually be cleared by wanging a big log through but iff not hit the stop button when a log is part way through and the top roller will be lifted up and you could dig it out with a flat blade screw driver or similar .

Got the Swazi jacket through, seems nice, fits well... not rained at work once since it's come! Thanks for the recommendations

These double cab trucks all seem like they tow well, until you tow with something better. My Ineos Grenadier hauls 3.5 ton like it's not there, but even new defender/disco/range rover, cayenne V8tdi, American pickups as mentioned.... you go back to the 4pot trucks and it's no competition

I know that Lucas mill, had a lot of new parts thrown at it about 10years ago. Should be a good mill for someone.

Tuckwells who are the Jensen dealer for the S/E have been reported as saying they're unloading stock due to Jensen being no more? May be in the market for an 8" tracked machine, and they have an A550 on tracks in stock... but if its a case of no dealer back up or parts then I'd probably pick a TR8 for the same money.. even though it's not built as well? Anyone got any experience with the A550? Any good? Heard its not the same Doosan lump as the ST8

Stihl MSA200c battery charging issue after inactivity.
kram replied to Fatboy2017's topic in Chainsaws
Yes some people do this. It can damage the cells and cause fires, sometimes delayed. The problem is some cells are likely near full, while others near empty. Large currents can flow when you connect two packs together and it can push cells well past there 4.2v limit. The only safe way to do it is with a balance charger as a pack, or by charging individual pairs to the same voltage, they need to all measure the same. It needs to be done at a slow rate, too. If you must, do it outside on a dry day, charge it outside then keep it in a weather proof box, outside for a few days or a week. If it does burn while your asleep, your house, family and tools will be safe. Anyway first thing is get a volt meter on the external tabs to see how much charge it has. -

Thanks for all the ideas and info, I'm not so well up on the battery technology and must get over it and see what I can do! I have 3 saws in bits that require assembling and then I'll get the battery apart. I have small smart battery charger that I use on my motorbike battery, 6V old BSA , so hopefully I can use that? I know from the past colleague's in my old job used to charge racing batteries with phone chargers, I have plenty them so if that's a better option please let me know. -

Not by me, but I got it second-hand in spring, it worked well for a battery saw, I was pleasantly surprised, 1/4" chain is a fiddle to sharpen. Used it lots for light work, then put it away with battery left about 75% charge, 3 lights, but I left it in the saw, not sure if that's why it discharged? Looks like I'll have to have mess with it as Kram suggested, I have seen some info about kick starting it by connecting another battery to to two outside terminals for a few seconds, but I don't have another 36v battery to use, plenty of 20v! I wonder if Mark at Skyland has a simple practical solution? He is quite close to me, hopefully he'll chime in! Thanks for all the suggestions. I service / repair all my saws, but this electric stuff has a place but initial cost and the cost of batteries limits my use and of course the lack of power versus weight, I much prefer petrol for 90% of jobs. -

There are a few places that will repair batteries. Not sure how comfortable I'd be sending dodgy battery through the post but you might get a local place you can drop it off at. Think my brothers work gets their sent away to be repaired or has someone on site that will do it. Probably cheaper.... -

Paul in the woods replied to Arb-Aero's topic in Picture Forum
The cocoon looks like Vapourer moth, but the caterpillars are not a plain green, they do have yellow/green hairs. https://www.rhs.org.uk/biodiversity/vapourer-moth The control method might he the same, pick off cocoons and caterpillars when seen (and move to another plant). -

Personally I thing you need two chargers for 12v batteries. - A small smart charger 1 to 5A to trickle charge and top up relatively healthy batteries. - For big 12v batteries (tractors etc.) or really depleted batteries you need an old fashioned large capacity non-smart charger. Mine is so old I can't read the label to see what the amperage is anymore, but it really wakes up old batteries. but I try not to leave it on for too long. -
Customer has a Japanese maple, that has been defoliated twice this year by a green caterpillar. The only visual iD I had where these cocoons in the outer canopy and on the stem. Any ideas on the species and management, please? IMG_9290.HEIC

Update on this one, new genuine stihl coil and it runs like a dream. Since the old one worked (until you connected to the plug!) Possibly some surface rust making a weak earth. I'd tried to clean it up but made no difference, so maybe it just had enough and retired. Thanks for the suggestions and advice as always👍

Does it have to be a Lucas? Might know of a Peterson for sale.
