  1. Past hour
  2. Yes and even when they ’fix’ The problem what actually happens is someone comes up with a workaround which sometimes just kicks the problem down the road, and sometimes creates a whole series of other problems. I clearly remember my reaction when I first worked in IT support that no-one tried to actually understand the cause of the bug - they just attempted to alleviate the symptom. And that was thirty years ago; I guess it is way more complex now.
  3. That's the thing with software, it is sent out 90% correct and working, fix it later. Imagine flying on holiday and the driver says "Brand new design of plane this one, we think 90% of it should work, and kind of hoping that last 10% isn't too critical"
  4. Today
  5. Our Champ had all the miulitary stuff on it . Winch , shoval a lenght of rope and two jerry cans . I loved it but we could not afford to put petrol in it every other day !
  6. Its come to light recently that the system used before Horizon was just as bad . Capture I think it was called .
  7. As I mentioned the owner was pretty tight. New tyres would have probably made a world of difference.
  8. Just said on Sky News 40 dead so far .
  9. I had the twin rear wheel civvy version of the RB44. With good tyres on it had very capable off road ability. First picture is just after a twit (not me) operated the 3 way tipper with the pins diagonally opposed, second one is after the chassis was straightened, new ex military single cab fitted and chip box plus tool locker made. Courtesy of Ebay it went all the way to the Falklands to work on a sheep farm.
  10. But to add to my answer just now, even though it was not AI, it highlights the importance of any system, machine or indeed AI having proper oversight by actual humans with the right skills.
  11. No it was a system designed in the nineties that had a flaw. All IT systems have flaws -bugs- often thousands. Usually when a roll-out happens the developers work with the end users and gradually work through them and you hopefully eventually get a functional system. What seems to have happened with Horizon is the state’s natural instinct to deflect any blame kicked in and therefore the only possible reason for all the errors was that suddenly hundreds of hard working sub-postmasters had become thieves. It is quite a scary scenario and no doubt not unique.
  12. Have just read that one, sounds horrific.
  13. From what I read, it was effectively a spreadsheet with an error in one of the formulas that highlighted - in error - that it thought the individual post office was acting fraudulently.
  14. What about this.
  15. I think the RB can be capable off road, especially if you put it on mog rims on with ag tyres.

  17. Was the Horizon Post Office system early AI, it certainly seems to have a degree of fuzzy logic built in?
  18. Hi I am looking to buy a Timberwolf 18/100 chipper would anybody on here have one for sale?
  19. Switzerland latest: Several dozen people presumed dead at New Year's party in ski resort NEWS.SKY.COM A fire ripped through a ski resort bar in Switzerland where people were celebrating New Year's Eve. Dozens of people are feared dead and around 100 more are injured. Follow... Dozens of young people killed celebrating New Year, 100 in hospital with significant burns, An absolute nightmare.
  20. A thread about depression, and people attack someone who has been very open historically about their own struggles with depression. Unbelievable - internet bullying ****************whittery at its finest.
  21. I used to work for a guy with an RB 44. It was Horrendous to drive in London especially with a chipper on it. Just because it had a 4 an another 4 in the name didn’t make it that capable off road. It would get stuck in a football pitch. Mind you the guy had short arms and very deep pocket so it may have been a bit better if the tyres weren’t so worn.
  22. Bought a little 6550 valtra to run alongside my T234 and N174. bought it from wilson’s with a little crane trailer as well. fifth tractor i’ve had off wilson’s over the years and fantastic service as ever. perfect little tractor for sneaking into places that are a bit tight for the newer valtras and a handy little thing to have onsite with the mulcher on the back. 26. Austin gypsy, they look well built, seemingly a lot better than the land rover at the time.
