Thanks Con, yes been looking at starting off as a groundie to see how I get on, also looking at doing volunteer stuff to gain some experience. Not really looking to set myself up on my own
-
I see no problem you to become a climber if you want, just remember it is not a job it’s a lifestyle 😉

Thanks for the reply, 76kg - just over 5ft 10, no issue lifting my own body weight as been rock climbing for last 5 years and regularly in the gym or doing cardio

Thanks Steve, couldn’t stick working indoors so definitely want something outdoors

I'm 57. Only climbing/working 2/3 days a week now. On the odd occasion that I do a full week, I'm shattered. I don't know how fit I am, but I've a body used to it. Also consider, it will be a while before you establish yourself and start making profit. If you're considering setting up on your own, the initial outlay on equipment is very expensive. Maybe test the water first. Plenty of companies looking for groundies. Unless you have a particular passion for trees/ Tree work, I think in your position, I'd be looking to retrain in something with a bit more longevity. At best, you'd be lucky to get 8-10 years, before you're knackered.

Tell me your body weight and how high you are?

There is an agency which notifies everyone of a death, which can save a lot of time and grief, but occasionally, it has a negative effect. It transpire that as he is dead, they take his details off the ownership but do not automatically add his widow in case he has left it to someone else. Therefore it has no owner, but they list it as 'sold'. Sorted with a phone call though. But it gave time for the twat who shook on it to swerve!

Pick the apples to reduce the weight then gently prop it back as above -
I’d say that’s too old.

I quit climbing at 40. Nearly 50 now and couldn’t imagine starting in this career at that age. Some do it though to be fair. theres far easier ways to make money at 50

Apple tree blown over
Tree monkey 1682 replied to organic guy's question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
See how loose it is and then attempt to stake after straightening it up ,if it won't lift up again then support it with the lean with a natural crutch -
10 year old tree on dwarf root stock blown over last night. Laden with apples. Best solution? (Other than cut it down)

Good Morning all, just joined today and would like some sound advice if anyone can help. Abit about myself, I am ex military and have been working overseas doing security for the last 20 years. Over the past year I have been considering hanging up my gun belt and looking at retraining myself for work back in U.K. only issue is I am 50 this year but still fit for my age. if anyone can help I’d like some advice on is it worth it retraining to become a arborist at my age or have I left it to late. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
