If it’s a second hand truck there is no way of proving who manufactured/installed the towing equipment or whether it is CE marked etc etc. If it passes a mot then the owner can’t in any way be liable surely?

On your Nokia.

Google Starmer id £85.

Legally you can do what you want, as long as it meets EC94/20 standards. What you’re proposing is almost certainly WAY over these standards. Proving it? Different ball game re legality, insurance (and yes, you have to tell your insurer) etc. Electrics as well can be a legal/ins nightmare. I’d lay it off to a pro company. £200 fun project to £1000 wallet buster. Sorry, just being honest.

I cant see it in my internet but its the shitty old style phone line one so it might have not updated yet.

I’ve seen the video of him in our local high street asking for directions to the train station - unbelievable 😡

Easy access tip site for logs, don’t need to be cut especially short, usually someone home to help unload of needed. Willing to pay for logs also

This was done in 2009 and it was a 1999 model originally fitted with all steel body and tail lift. I cut the body off right down to the tipper body rails and fitted an all ally back from a transit onto it. Fabricated all the mountings etc, then the towbar. Found some old pics the missus took while I was doing it - none of the completed article though. I remember the diagonals I put in were really heavy angle iron, and every bit was seam welded

Or you fit new discs and brakes yourself, same deal really. If it fails they'll come a knocking asking for the keys to your house. I'd personally be also checking the v5 to see what it's allowance as a Jimny is pretty light to start with. Unbraked 450/braked 1300kg.
-
What year was the daily? I read something about rules changing pre/post 1998?
-
Yes fair point. I know I'd never be taking more than 10 miles and rarely on an A road the jimny wouldn't make it lol. But why I posted was that I was looking at replacing the back end of the chassis so I had the correct bits to fit an approved towbar to. But struck me as bizarre, that I could weld the back end of the chassis on, to then fit an approved towbar to the bit I'd welded on? Ie any old tom dick or harry can weld his chassis to pass an mot, no checks you're an approved welder?
-
Interesting thanks! That's kinda how my design is looking. Steel is twice the thickness of the chassis itself... They have to check the socket now if towbar is fitted apparently to checknwiring is working. They check the towbar but wasn't sure if it would fail simply for being homemade however strong that was why I asked.

This is where people f up. The grab makes the machine. No one sells them ‘due to upgrade’ because any grab on these titchy machines is maxed out already. Any grab is better than no grab, but if you find anything for less than £2k you’ve done well.

On the internet.

I had a bit of a look into the digital ID thing and I think its pointless and I wont be going for it but I didnt see anything about being charged £85 for not producing it? Where did you read about that?

I was making the point that a chart showing number of dead on each side in a war does not in fact tell the whole story.

I’ve managed to find an older Opico skidster fitted with a yahnmar diesel engine for a good price. Very tempted to take a punt! Doesn’t come with a grab though, where can I buy a reasonably priced grab?
-
Bollocks to that idea. It's one thing not being able to park somewhere because a crappy app crashes, or you don't have mobile signal, quite another to be charged £85 for the pleasure. My venerable uncle doesn't even own a bloody smartphone, like a lot of the older generation. I wonder what Kier has planned for them.

I have a towball on my 1999 vitara, it can tow 1.2 tones braked but only 500kg unbraked as it is only 1tonne unladen.

I've been wearing Solidur from Chris Forestry, deeper pockets and better zips than the pfanners. On sale at the moment too.
