  1. Past hour
  2. a couple of shots at the end of a busy week working in the lovely village of Grosmont. We dismantled 3 trees with serious basal decay in a very congested church yard- no access for any machinery unfortunately.
  3. Today
  4. Today's job... A large dead standing lime likely killed off by the surrounding honey fungus, armillaria. Followed by a fun free climb of a large nearby oak tree that has been loosing large limbs for the last three decades due to being crowded out by younger trees competing for light. (Local authority doesn't seem prepared to cute the required trees around it to save this beautiful heritage tree VID-20251008-WA0008.mp4 VID-20251008-WA0009.mp4 VID-20251008-WA0042.mp4
  5. Willing to pay for some quality wood chipping, also happy to take logs etc before November 2025.

  7. I got lucky and found one of these, however it came with the wrong bar and chain, it should run a 404, but this had a 325 fitted. the bar is an old roller tip [not a sprocket tip] and while it fits and oils fine it's not suited to 404 chain. it looks like a universal fitment of some kind as its got multiple holes for adjustment and oiling. the slot is 9.5 . so I require a bar that will fit a Jonsereds XF, for a 404 063 chain somewhere between 16"-20" although at 110cc I reckon it will pull a tad longer. I can make a chain to suit once I have a bar. cant find much relating to bar mount pattern and despite having more than a few bars I ain't got one that fits right on. any help would be greatly appreciated so I can get it in some wood.
  8. Roadside. Dead standing lime. Easy Access. WhatsApp +447811385870 or call 01159255953. Wood cut to movable pieces by hand. Largest rings quartered. NG72GZ. Yes lime isn't fantastic firewood by itself, but can be mixed in with other loads and burnt succesfully. VID-20251008-WA0009.mp4 VID-20251008-WA0008.mp4
  9. Great very helpful thank you - clearance is diff for intake & exhausted - trying to work out which is which as they are stacked on top of each other not side to side...
  10. Bit of bank clearance today, started by felling and snedding, then doh, there is a 3 ton 👹 Semi controlled chaos ensued and now it just needs a bit of fettleing.
  11. no such tree as betulina pendula, or is there?
  12. If you find TDC by placing something like a sccrewdriver into the plug hole and rotate the engine until the screwdriver is at its furthest point protruding outwards, it it is on the correct stroke then both valves should be fully closed (so you can 'waggle' both rocker arms so they arent under any pressure) then you can adjust both valve clearances...on briggs OHV engines its between 0.004" and 0.008" this is a Honda clone, so may be different. If on the stroke where you have TDC only one vavle rocker can be 'waggled' then you will need to rotate the engine fully so the next stroke will close both valves.
  13. Hi my names Dani and I live in medway Kent, I have a log burner and use this primarily for heat in winter, I can offer a tip site - my front garden and driveway for any local people that would like to get rid of any trees/logs/anything I can use for kindling also, I can split and season so anything at all will be gratefully received. call, text,WhatsApp 07990 405733
  14. Sorry only looked at bark and end grain didnt see the leaf
  15. Take the plug out. The inlet is the one that opens as the piston goes down and the exhaust opens as the piston comes up as long as the engine is rotated in the right direction.
  16. Which valve is which pls? Both same distance away from exhaust & carb???
  17. My set up for Tobroco giant. Pulled over a number of trees with it also used it to recover loader when I got it stuck in middle of woodland
  18. yep, looks like a tree to me. or whats left of one.
  19. Right in its sorbus but leaf completely wrong for rowan . Its Whitebeam me thinks.
  20. I rigged out the other small ones over the garage, the 3rd picture was done in two peices. Quite a lot had enough lean away to free fell it. VID-20251008-WA0003(1).mp4 I was a bit annoyed that the stem missed my carefully positioned brash pile, big hole in the grass but easily fixed.. VID-20251008-WA0005.mp4
  21. I do stuff on my own all the time, but that’s not something I would climb without at least a semi-competent groundie.
  22. I meant sketch some rigging lines on it. Put it in your other thread if you want. I can see how I'd probably do it (from what I can see/guess from your photos).
  23. Nice tree. So you cut and chucked all of it besides that one rig you showed us?
