A magnolia tree on my land that had almost a second trunk (or a branch) fork away from the trunk very low to the ground had to be removed as it was obstructing the pathway. Many years have past and now the tree has grown around the stump, but recently the middle of the stump began swelling. It swelled so much that pieces fell out, and in the hole it left a pool of water. What’s in the hole is extremely rotted, and the water can’t escape. I’m concerned this will kill the tree. The main part of the tree does look well however. Im considering cutting a very shallow channel (width of a chain saw cut), to let the water out, and let it stay dry. Either that or I just leave it? thoughts?

Hi, I think both, I think you can inject it into the holes... I've only done this once to a chair which was easy but I guess with something much bigger I guess you could spray it. Being no expert, I think if I had serious woodworm in my house for example I would be tempted to buy a pukka woodworm treatment or if it was bad enough call in a professional. Cheers.

Hi, I just paint or spray it on before before stacking the slabs to season, + painting the ends with2 coats of SBR. I suppose usually the milled wood would have dried a bit on the surface, I'm no expert... I'm just winging it but it definitely helps to prevent Blue stain and it's cheap and non toxic to mammals.

Always happy to take logs in particular. Can accept deliveries any time.

Finally got recovered at 9.30pm, western recovery were very good. Said they had been sent somewhere else and had been given the wrong number some hours ago. Quite frankly I found the whole process appalling. I do feel as though the initial patrol guy could have been more helpful. We had waited 2 hours for him to arrive and confirm what I had said. Then we had to be on the phone for 20 mins before we could get a call handler to then tell them what the situation was. Very happy to get in that lorry with the car on the back. Ordered the replacement belt, of course not one the local motor factors keep on the shelf, tomorrows job.

As I recall (and obviously it was 45ish years ago) Rupert the Bear had Marmite and peanut butter sandwiches in the recipe section of the annual. Had a soft spot for the combination ever since.
