Mornin’ Stubs et al. Still, frosty and of course cold. My favourite sort of day today, one tree, one client, park right next to it, client keeps the wood, just take away some chip. Steady start to the week.

^this^ I have had saws literally given to me free because people who were recommended to use aspen and similar as their infrequent usage of saws resulted in having to take the saw to be rejuvenated often at great expense each year because they did not do as Stubby suggests, they changed to electric, I end up with a decent saw that never gives me any trouble. happy days.

Hi there yes iv checked all the switches in both infeed and reverse buttons✅ checked the relays ✅ checked for loose wires ✅ checked the full loom for damaged wires ✅ and crimped the relay connectors tighter ✅ i have check the stop switch on the red safety bar ✅ checked the plug under the hopper and all looks good ✅ the only thing that I can think to try now is changed the alternator or check the wires on that but it charges the battery lovely no issues I hope it’s not the h box as I feel that’s gonna be exspensive every thing works except the feed won’t stay on Just seeing if any one on here found any other way of solving there a pretty popular chipper so I carnt be the only one that’s had this problem 😢

Hi there did you solve this problem mine is the same

Hi did you find out the problem please can you update mine is the same

As has been discussed, the box of tricks takes a feed from the alternator to know it's speed probably by sensing the alternator amperage. Probably best checking for loose connections, but if the chipper is charging the battery the stress control box would be my initial guess and or the feed switches and emergency stops. Granted, last Kubota one I repaired had a black sensor next to the flywheel on the starter side of the engine and used SP4 shown in the diagrams.

Double check the coil to flywheel gap and if you can unscrew the HT lead ( some you can), then unscrew it, check the continuity, clean it and refit it. It is also worth checking the continuity between the HT cap and earth. You should get a reading of sorts, possibly 20k ohms, but it will show the cap and lead are OK before purchasing a coil. I had a 461 once that had a corroded HT line and this check saved purchasing a new coil.

Hi, I have a Timberwolf 2017 TW 230 diesel chipper the infeed roller button. There’s no longer its own when pressed if I hold my finger on it it will stay working. All the other controls are working. I’ve checked all the switches when the machine gets up to full revs. A red light comes on saying speed fault two and the hydraulic thing lights up red when I press the feed button it works but I need it to stay on on its own when feeding please can anybody help me? I’ve also checked the wire loom and plug all looks good and the relays all good

Thing is, I only have one RRP and would like another SRT system, so might have bought one. Vertec plus pulley is getting pretty pricey though, I'm looking at that Freexion again. The reflex has promise but hate the guinea pig feeling.

Hi did you find out what was the problem I’m having same issue

People could use their attempts at toilet roll tube moon selfies that they'll find in their phone photo libraries on or around 8th September 2025.

... or, I guess playing the Sherlock Holmes what if the bores were scored before being put away, but kept running as started up nice and regular? We don't actually know they were good when put away, a blower a bit down on power still blows for example.

I'm clean.

If you remove all the wires going to the coil and you're sure that the HT lead isn't shorting out and you have no spark at the plug then its usually the coil that needs replacing.

How about a second push of this. I found it hugely helpful the first time round.

I've got a little Stihl kombi unit that suddenly cut in use. I presumed fuel so filled it up, but noticed still probably ¼ of a tank in there. It then wouldnt start. Checked spark, nothing doing. Put new spark plug on, still nothing Put a tester on the spark plug lead, shows a spark when earthed to the machine, but not when connected to a spark plug. Even with a plug i took off a working saw or a new plug (had been in workshop for 5years but still in box) Maybe all 3 plugs are mysteriously duff but Im beginning to doubt it? Disconnecting on/off switch doesnt make any difference so can't be that Could it be that the ignition coil has gone a bit dodgy, works when tested on its own but not when connected to a plug? Almost as if the resistance of the plug is too much? Just want to check I'm not doing something stupid before ordering a new coil. Thanks
