Also known as Holm Oak I forgot to add . -
More power but also more weight. If you are only cutting small stuff, 35cc is ideal. also will it last 5 times as long? i have owned both. The 161 lasted 5 years, im not sure my 261 will last 25 years.

Trump, Putin and the Plot to Break Up Europe - https://eutoday.net EUTODAY.NET Heritage, described in Italy as the world’s largest ultra-conservative think-tank, is the main architect of “Project 2025”, the domestic blueprint adopted by https://www.defensenews.com/opinion/2025/12/08/dont-let-trump-let-putin-miscalculate-on-europe/

the 261 may be 5 times the price, but is more than twice the power of the 162. It's not like they both do the same job

More simple steps please. I've plucked them, skinned them but if this is simpler and quicker I'll have a go. I've a brace hanging, first in over five years. I shall check the meat for steel shot with a pin pointer.

I find the professional versus consumer saw debate is a tricky one. If just looking at price when new say a Stihl MS162 is £160 versus a Stihl MS261 at £850 (professional saw). You could buy 5 of them for the same price. If you are not good at maintenance, replacing parts and/or wreak a consumer saw, there is a lot less to cry about.

Aye that’s probs what we did .. was 5 + years ago so can’t remember what we did … I know it was dark when we left though !

In theory you wouldn't need them to spiral, just stagger them from top to bottom unevenly...no ones going to know they're not spiralled
-
Have you checked and set the valve clearances, and if so, did you do it on the correct stroke?

Good shout, I was thinking an oak and the bark looks like ilex, I cannot remember the heart though. -
To be fair I did a big wellie maybe 75ft , still about half that size with and for a member on here a few years back it was an utter ball ache getting it in to a spiral.
-
i'll give it a miss then. Nothing drives me mad than proprietary equipment that you can't work on. New cars and dealer only stuff but also I lived in a house for a while where the previous owners burglar alarm company refused to give me the admin code and tried to put me on an annual contract just for changing batteries and vacuuming dust out of the sensors. I won in the end, the previous owner was under contract not me.

It is a lame effort in that respect, just straight lining it. They could've made an effort to spiral the lights around at least, especially as they had a mewp. I did it for a neighbour a few years ago. I was just climbing, no mewp, but still managed to wrap the lights around. It looked much better. A right ball ache mind; trying to get out to the the tips to untangle long snaggy light strings from the velcro.

I prefer putting a carb kit in a genuine carbs to non-genuine replacement. You could try that. Does the tunning change when you tilt the machine in different positions? That and erratic revving could be an air leak. I'd P&V test.

Customer I know worked for local power network for donkeys years. Before he left he acquired a tray of 2stroke sachets, 1 shot type jobs. Anyhow one day, he gets the strimmer out, starts then dies. Same with the chainsaw and then the blower. Transpires it was hand sanitizer not 2 stroke 🙈
