This topic, along with modern economic concepts (complete globalisation of wealth, tax, emissions/climate control policies), simply comes down to a binary choice of whether one is a transhumanist or not...
Are we, the human race, better off (a totally subjective concept) following the lead of vastly powerful and unimaginable wealthy technocrats who ultimately 'know best', or best to follow our natural instincts and strive towards more autonomy and less government??
I can't help but think certain things are simply inevitable - once electricity had been invented, was it not inevitable we would end up with this looming AI conundrum??
Once caravaggio, the renowned renaissance painter, had infamously used a prostitute as a model for the virgin Mary, would we not end up with Tracy emin's dirty used bed being hailed as a post modern masterpiece??
The same line of thought could be used to understand many controversial modern standpoints - the feminist movement culminates eventually in all men being misogynistic bigots. How could this end any other way?
Climate agenda - it is not just enough to be interested in making things that last, or use rainwater where possible, or grow some easy veg for your family for example, oh no you must be classed as evil and or totally ignorant if you don't lust after a massively overweight and inefficient electric car charged by coal!
The sexual revolution debate - ultimately ended up in cutting off breasts of minors to prove a point to exactly who??
My point being, its just what's fashionable that dictates what is easily said or not so easily said. The case with the more 'woke' amoung us, is that they feel 'safe' and 'good' spouting what they have been told, and have therfore confused that with being correct. It's a very subconscious, human mistake to make.
Peace out.
