Apart from being a carbon based bipedal animal, you have successfully done that.

Absolutely not the full story, however the usual thick imbeciles will support it fully as they know best!

Good morning Arbtalkers, last day of the working week for me 😉 Have a good one 👍

Morning all, More hedge trimming today. We fitted foam pipe insulation round the shaft of the long reach cutters. Much less vibration gets through to left hand. Also wearing padded gloves. Still not heard from Peds have we?

What the most unusual thing you have found in a tree
Mike Hill replied to Henry218's topic in Climbers talk
Working in Germany I found plenty of bullets. The Armour piercing ones, ruin your chain.Berlin there were roof tile chunks in most of the old trees. Once in Bergen by the Docks , I felled a tree full of shrapnel. When we were working on lowering the stump and cutting around the splinter a German guy asked what we were doing. As the chunk finally came out I gave it to him,he was over the moon. Considering the effort his fore fathers had gone to in order to get that bit of metal to Norway in the first place. -

Yes,yes you can. Norway you Brits can rock up,start working straight away and get permanent residence after two years. Sweden it's a bit of paperwork but not much.Probably a bonus to employers since the applicant will have to show a bit of drive on their behalf. Finland has a seasonal workers permit that would suit the op perfectly. So in short,if you want to stuff holes with tree's in Scandi-wegia then off you go.

Recreational climbing to develop skills.

Rec climbing is certainly a “thing” Perhaps try the FB groups. I’m sure you’ll find some contemporaries there (usually the younger ones) who will point you in the right direction or organise group climbs. Always best if there’s a couple of you for safety reasons. -

I have the VENOM 22-ton splitter, which can be towed up to 45mph. on UK roads legally, it doesn't have the log loader function, but it can be operated both vertical and horizontally, so bigger stuff can be rolled onto it in the vertical position.

Used to really enjoy Nick’s column in Forestry Journal. ’Woodwise’ I think his company was. Nice guy, met him at a couple of the Weald Woodfairs. -
Why do guys do this? ..throw out a question , then fail to get involved any further. Is it just the sheer joy of knowing you've wasted our good , honestly given time, or is it actually a benefit to all and sundry forevermore, that we've unloaded our encyclopedic brains, to be harvested at some later time, if anyone can be bothered to read it then. Some people just have too much time running through their fingers.

Watched Nick Hilton start to slab an oak butt at The Bentley Wildfowl Forestry Show some 20 years back. A blue stain appeared and just grew bigger until he set about it and it was a horse shoe, hung on a branch a long time ago. It didn't have any nail holes in it! We dendro dated it and he knew where the butt came from too. He did write it up in Forestry and British Timber magazine when that was in print. -
Pete I’d try ticking the IVA box or just get a really decent trailer lighting board fitted that looks the part and crack on 🤷♂️. The machine is under 750kg so no brake issues, wheels and axles look ok, hitch is a hitch, tyres, wheel bearings( if any doubts) and indeed the hitch can be replaced at not big costs. I’ve ran a normal 37t rock splitter for years now with no hassle, tyres rotted out and I replaced a knackered spool valve after about 5 years and went to proper single handed operation as opposed to a cobbled up set up. That machine looks ok to me, Honda 800! Is a great unit ( had one on my first Trakmet sawmill, zero hassle and quite frugal) and that flow rate/cycle time is good. No doubt a few weld and hose repairs will be required over the years but as you say you’d probably need at least another £10k to go eastonmade or equivalent.
