  1. Yesterday
  2. Had flu jab yesterday and felt increasingly crap today! Going for record lie in today! Enjoy clocks back! Billy, Oddball.
  3. Just dry them, the chillies. By far the easiest way to keep them. Just hang them in a sunny window.
  4. You're a one aren't you?! I know what you mean about botulism though, it's a spectre that always lurks in the back of my mind when preserving stuff. It's undetectable you know? No smell, no taste, nothing, until the poisoning and resultant extensive nerve damage I think. I reckon you're fine. With the sugar, salt and vinegar it won't be a cosy, welcoming place for it to live. Especially the vinegar. From what I've read it's only really a danger in non-acidic environments.
  5. Nice. I've just survived the second night of a form of chilli that I'm half expecting to give me botulism. A couple of years ago, I boiled some in sugar, salt and vinegar and put it in old jars. Having run out of convenient chilli last night, I opened one of these jars to find rust on the inside of the lid. My senses immediately tingled. This is the thing everyone warns about, badly canned food. Fck them. Fck you. Fck me. I put twice the normal amount in and cooked it lower. Let's do this.
  6. Turkish chicken thing with sumac and sesame. With a bulgar salad and a couple of forms chilli. Plus fried chorizo, chard and chestnuts. Got to be my favourite way of doing chicken. Dead easy, dead quick, dead tasty.
  7. Scum bags let another French word past. Wordle 1,589 4/6 🟨🟨⬛⬛⬛ ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  8. Thanks. Actually as the hens are under the tree there isn’t much turf so we can look after it and use leaves etc to keep the moisture in.
  9. Correct, only the 13 pin socket is tested for the MoT test.
  10. Know accepting branches, i need as many as i can get to build a dead hedge.

So they test 13 pin but not 7??
  12. Removing the stumps won't remove the Honey Fungus; it's everywhere - the mycelia will reach way beyond those Birch stumps. Strong healthy plants and trees resist HF so efforts would be better directed towards keeping the Maple in good shape, e.g. by minimising compaction of the roots via machines and people or mulching around its base to suppress the grass - turf is a real issue for trees as it soaks up just so much water and prevents healthy root/fungus relationships developing. Mulching looks like it may not be a starter in that garden though due to the space it would need but then again - how much do you value the Maple? Definitely don't lose the Maple 'in case'.

  14. Do you think we should leave the stumps? Is it likely to move on around the garden?! Or is its next move so unknown we are better to do nothing and wait and see? Googling it everyone says to remove all the stumps and nearby trees and shrubs but it sounds like experienced tree surgeons haven’t actually seen it be so destructive after all?
  15. The forum has missed this post! Is the tree on your side of the boundary or on the boundary? Your side then I guess all you need to do is ask the neighbour for access to the tree. If your future plans are to replace the building then do it sooner rather than later (future plans could be next spring, could be in 2050).
  16. Hi everyone, im looking for aerial rescues climber with no bad habits on full time work. Around Redditch, if anyone wants or know anyone. Reply in comments your number and I’ll get in touch with you. Thanks
  17. Thanks for the update....I think. Yup, loose ends are never good but in your case.....😬 I hope you find a more reliable way to cut wood...perhaps a trained, tame woodworm👍 I would say beaver but on a Saturday night, this lot may get excited!!
  18. You should be able to find cheap grab as they are not that powerful machine, even a cheap Chinese one may do.
  19. I think it may be Mendiplogs from his spelling...sorry Jon if you are reading.
  20. I'm looking to buy a used mid-range chainsaw for very occasional use when visiting my parents. It doesn't have to be the MS036 (or MS360/361), but it should definitely have more power than the MS 261. I'm also considering something like the MS 038 or the MS 044 (MS440/441). Ideally I'm looking for a chainsaw that is easy/inexpensive to repair and with lots of aftermarket parts still available. This is the reason why I'm leaning a bit more towards the older models such as 036/038/044, but maybe this assumption is wrong and I would be better off buying a used MS360/361 or 440/441. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions !
  21. Removing the maple because it might get honey fungus would be like killing yourself because you might die one day.
  22. Just goes to show what burning wet wood can do.
  23. Looks like Honey Fungus to me, the ring on the stipe says so to me. The mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of the various fungul mycellium in the soil. Normally the honey fungus will attack its host and then move on and I regularly see it around dead stumps at this time of year. I think the advice of leave the Maple and see is the best advice as otherwise you are removing a tree that may or may not become the host of the honey fungus. That is my opinion. I am sure others will have something to say on the matter.
  24. Ah the pics of Meripilus don’t look like what we had.
  25. Blowing like a steam train without the spark arrestor
  26. It looks more like Meripilus giganteus to me
