Do a search on this site, some excellent information regarding purchase, installation, etc, etc, was incredibly useful to me about a year ago when I was looking for one myself.

 

However, many of the people will have repeated themselves so many times that they may not bother responding yet again (quite understandably) to another "which stove" thread and you'll miss something.

 

Search, read, inwardly digest. I did and feel certain that I ultimately bought precisely the right stove for my needs pretty much based on past threads on here.

I've got a Burley Holywell last winter. Heated my 3 bed semi all evening and just had heating on for an hour in the morning. It was mild though so i'll see how i do this winter.

It was recommended to me on here and it is spot on.

I have posted on this subject lots in the past, I sell stoves and firewood for a living. PM me if you want details of my web site, I have put a lot of info on their for new owners.

 

In a nutshell, make sure the stove is the correct size heat output wise for the room. Have it installed and signed off by a Hetas registered installer. Don't buy cheap chinese crap, service life is very short and parts are generally non existent. Some well known 'British; brands are now having their stoves built in China.

I got a Burley Holywell 5kw stove fitted last year and I would highly recommend one.

 

We run our gas central heating for an hour in the morning to heat the water and take the chill off, but after that we run the stove with all the doors open and we have an average temperature round the house of ~ 22°, but a lot higher in the lounge lol!!
