  3. It has always confused me why it's an offence to allow an animal to suffer, they call it inhumane, but a human is legally obliged to suffer. I believe palliative care practioners say there is a lot that can be done for someone, but there comes a point they just can't 'make someone comfortable'. A way should be found where an individual has agency over their own suffering.

Don't get this at all, I'd be aggrieved. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre. To my mind if you pull across a lane into a moving vehicle because you've signal, manoeuvred and have no idea what's around your vehicle then you're at fault.
  9. At least when you embarrass yourself with wordle you've got a six pack to fall back on. For the rest of us mere mortals a wordle win is all we've got!
  10. Morning all. Mick's little adventure in the woods reminds me of a recent incident with a workmate who'll remain nameless. He's got a habit of offering someone a finger to pull when he's going to fart. One morning on site he offered me the finger, I took it firmly in both hands and dramatically pulled it, I kept pulling, I dragged him all over the garden. Maybe I put in a little too much effort but not long after he disappeared in one of the work trucks saying mysteriously "Doug grab your stuff out the truck, I have to go sort something out, don't know how long I'll be". The mystery was solved soon after when the WhatsApp notification for the team chat rippled through all our phones. As we all read it and crumbled into hysteria... Boss Doug pulled my finger v hard and I've shit myself, going to Tesco to get cleaned up and buy new boxers. Be quick as I can. Really sorry. This is the worst msg I've ever sent. Please don't tell the guys. Of course we all replied and he realised he hadn't messaged the boss privately but put it on the team chat, poor guy. Insult to injury he bought boxers that were too small and spent the rest of the day pulling them out his arse crack like a tart at a disco does with a thong. He's not offered me a finger to pull since! Have a good one folks.

  16. I remember once digging a hole, or maybe it was driving in a post, and there wasn't a stone or root in the way, it was magnificent. Plunge the pinch bar straight down in the ground where the middle of your post is going, do a widening, circular motion with the top and make the hole a cone shape, repeat and widen the cone, repeat, deeper and wider. Aiming to be a really tight fit for the post and it doesn't actually have to pierce the ground itself very much. While using the pinch bar to make the hole you're also probing for stones, you can often push a stone aside with it or break through one. Don't hammer the pinch bar, just use it in your hands.
  17. Connie bashing this week, and next, probably the next, there's a few to do... Couple of skip trailers a day and a lot of timber. Climbing, winching, felling, thanks @Tom Dfor eliminating the drag! VID-20241104-WA0005.mp4 MOV_0917.mp4

  20. They can't work as a groundie (or anything else) because they'd need to have a right to work in this country to do that, so all the work they are getting is under the counter, dodgy work that's not contributing to anything other than the guy running the dodgy business. I know the country benefits from people moving here to work and I fully support it. I personally am surrounded by good people from elsewhere than good old blighty who play a full and fruitful part in society, having filled out the right forms and shown they can be a positive addition to society (my oh is an excellent example). The issue is that we as a country should have the say, some control, over who migrates to live here.
  21. Heard those rumours about city folk too, safer to stay rural.
  22. Morning all. Still not gotten used to the clock change, neither has the dog. Seems more ridiculous every time. Surely there'll come a day when it's accepted that changing time isn't good for us! Speaking of the dog, Wee Poppes hasn't been great again, drinking far too much and incontinent at night, she's started antibiotics for a UTI but the worry is it's her tumor or the meds she's on affecting the kidneys. Hopefully the antibiotics clear it up though, fingers crossed. Nothing planned today, just some chores. Have a good one folks.

  25. From what I've heard/read not many consider it to be of any significance on the ground. From a military operations point of view they make up less than 1% of the Russian contingent that are deployed. They're also plucked from a population in poverty, around 60% malnourished, even the elite unit commandos (their special forces) aren't well fed or experienced, and can't carry out more than basic training due to lack of fuel and other resources. It's the political aspect that both countries gain from, Putin can push back another extremely unpopular mobilisation of Russian teens, and show his people that he doesn't stand alone in the world. N Korean soldiers will be better supplied while they get some real world experience of combat, and it's no secret the Russians are paying for the services with cash, as well as supplies of food and fuel for Korean soil. Who knows what else may be agreed in the arrangement. But militarily in that particular conflict it makes no odds.
