  1. You've just delivered the first par since last Thursday Mick. Think we needed that.
  2. I'm sure you will do Bob but seeing those words I'm compelled to say please take it seriously, take as much as you can from it and keep it at the front of your mind in the future. Won't say much, but I'm still feeling quite emotional and keep going over an event last week where my emergency response/first aid was tested to the limit. I'm so glad now that I've treated these courses as valuable, and little things like enacting emergency information boards on site in addition to RA, actually having comprehensive first aid kit at hand, as well as being in the habit of carrying my personal trauma kit attached to me rather than leaving it somewhere handy. We all know it can be a dangerous job but when that risk is suddenly realised and the situation is critical these things are invaluable. I should say at this point that everyone will see a happy christmas with their loved ones, but that may not have been the case without excellent emergency preparation, comprehensive first aid kits, and the basic knowledge to use them. Sorry it's my turn to preach Bob, but it's very fresh for me and was by far the most serious event of my working life. We tend to say "stay safe out there" a lot, please do everyone. πŸ‘
  3. Morning all. Typically I woke up at work o'clock for no reason again. I miss being able to sleep til lunchtime without any effort at all! Beech hedge reduction completed yesterday, took about 7' off it. They were dealing with arisings themselves, I enjoyed their surprise at the magnitude of what they'd taken on. "Didn't realise there'd be so much stuff from just cutting a hedge". Mr Blair, your absence on the register was noted yesterday, we'll make an allowance due to your cutters xmas outing on Friday. Have a good one folks.

  5. A drive by shooting on squirrels, love it. Only question is Uzi or a mac10, blud?
  6. Morning all. NescafΓ© for me, rarely drink tea. Hedge reduction to finish off today. Homer. Still hearing myself say yes when I'm really thinking no but I'm working on that. It's a long road and change is never easy but I'm determined I'll get to a point where my automatic response is no, I don't want to burst myself on my day off doing the most miserable type of work because your gardener didn't manage it. Have a good one folks, I won't.
  7. A new day, a new wordle, same mediocrity. Wordle 1,274 5/6 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟩⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  8. I didn't get far enough through the alphabet for a bower, did manage boner though. Some say that's a win in itself at our age.
  9. A few others! My god it's been this threads darkest hour. So many of our band of committed, experienced wordlers fell today. There should be a minute's silence annually henceforth.
  10. I do believe life should exist elsewhere in the universe. Likely a whole array of life, including life forms mankind couldn't even conceptualise let alone classify in our supremely narrow and limited "knowledge" of existence. I can also imagine a civilisation evolving millions of light years away from earth to such a degree that the universe is literally their oyster. With technology that is so far advanced we haven't even dreamed of it, and most likely we will be another extinct earth species long before we could ever equal their achievements. I do struggle though when it comes to why, if they do exist, they would repeatedly visit the same place for decades on end studying such inferior species as ours whilst trying, yet failing spectacularly to remain unknown. Them having anything more than a fleeting glance at our planet is what's unbelievable.
  11. We use one of the Cardo versions, mainly because you can connect multiple units. Been very impressed and they'd certainly meet your requirements. No experience of the other brands.

  16. It was all tongue in cheek Bob, posted off the day it came, I agree with all you say.

  18. It does have small traces of green on the younger wood, like staining, so quite possibly just starting to establish. Suppose the square shape is down to the horse but I can't really picture it.
  19. I didn't think reaching the qualifying age to join this esteemed thread would change anything much. I hadn't accounted for the NHS. It seems I've gone to the top of their red watch list now I've become a doddering half wit. Never had so much communication before. These days, amongst other things I can have a plethora of injections to see me through the next 12months of dotage, they're keen as well to receive a tiny little bit of shit on a stick so they can get to know me very intimately, they fancy that every two years, at least until such times I'm too old to be viable. Talking of very intimate, I guess I've to look forward to the next time I visit the GP when no doubt I'll suffer the indignation of a gent, larger than me (don't know why but him being bigger than me has a huge psychological impact), will engage in a pseudo sexual act, and let's be honest that's exactly what it is, without so much as buying me a drink or purveying suitable lighting for the occasion. But I'm not letting it get me down, I'm hanging on to the fact the physio once said I "wasn't doing too bad, considering".
  20. Saw this at the base of an Oak today, it really stood out. Can't decide if the moss isn't growing there because of the different surface texture (it's been nibbled by horses historically) or if something has eaten the moss from that area. Unusually square I thought for nature. Ideas welcome.
  21. Leylandii is just grand you see, no bugger wants it so it's cheap for me.
  22. Morning all. Strange happenings this morning, this thread isn't showing on the website for me, I thought you'd all buggered off on a jolly without me! But I've found you hiding, eventually. Had to get here secretly via a notification from the other day. Anyway, physio this morning then pick up my top handle from the dealers, again. Think this is the fourth or fifth time they've had it for an impulse line issue. Last time they put on an upgraded part from husqvarna to solve the problem. This time he said he'd create a fix himself, fingers crossed! Have a good one folks.

  24. Sounds like a collie that gets enough engagement and exercise outwith work hours.
