  1. no ive not decided either way about av, I was talking about the local council elections which are held on the same day
  2. Yes, this country is broke. We need to save money and it has to come from somewhere. How many of you are going to vote in your local elections next week? Here we have a choice between an independent candidate, currently serving, who actually does stuff for the local area, or alternatively we have a local labor councillor who over the last 10 years has claimed £200,000 in expenses between him and wife. If you are voting next week and you have chance, ask them how much they claim as this is where to start cutting costs. Rant, rant, rant - that feels better!

  11. Nice website, well designed and to the point. My wife (I know nothing of these things!) says the email issue is because you've just got a link to your email address, and when someone clicks on it, it fires up outlook/outlook express etc (which ever email client is installed and in use). As Steve rightly says, if the person viewing the website doesn't an email program on their pc then it will not work. Two things to suggest - 1. display the email address rather than the word email (then people can write it down if they want to, or copy and paste it into their web-based email system to email you), or 2. put a contact/enquiry form on the page as well, so that people can send you their name, telephone, email, enquiry etc. I've got an enquiry form on mine and get enquiries every week through it (sometimes find people are happier to send me their details than to pick up the phone, particularly if they're browsing on evenings / weekends). Don't forget to put your website address on everything - truck, business cards, letterhead, adverts etc - and also make sure that you are getting plenty of visits via the search engines as this is where a website will really help you. I've had a website for my business since 2001 and wouldn't be without one.

  19. hi steve i prefer no debt as when works quiet i dont have lots of people shouting for money. however in genral i would say aim for no more than the equivalent of 30 day turnover . the only exeception being hp where the the second hand sale price of your assets should always be greater than what you still owe ,the same applies to a business bank loan for equipment .
  20. Nice site. Only thing I would suggest to improve is that you can't tell where you are and this tends to be the first thing that a potential customer would need to know - ie Cheshire is a big place. Plus I think putting an address (and landline telephone number) helps you to look like a real business.
