  1. Nice. Can the rotator be fitted onto the standard avant forks or is it a complete unit?
  2. Usually they wouldn't but I know them and they're keen to see what it can do, so I said give me the lot and I'll give honest feedback. It's a new venture for them too. Machine is €35k with bucket and forks Flail and hedgecutter are 3.5 and 3 respectively
  3. Have this rather smart looking thing for a week long demo Machine is a neomach nova x30. 26hp kubota, 1.1 ton lift 2.85mtr reach 3 sets of flow and return, case drain and 2x12v connections. on demo with a muratori flail and slanetrac fingerbar. So far I'm reasonably impressed.
  4. 2511 is a great little saw. Not owned a 151 but it would be hard to beat the echo, its true the plastic is softer, but it's not badly put together and they are a joy to use. Mine is from 2017, so i think the older, carb trouble prone model. It has never skipped a beat for me although it is on its third or fourth recoil. That's mostly my fault though. I'm a heavy handed animal and I break things.
  5. I'd rather have genital warts than a briggs efi. Diesel or, even better a clean well maintained, older and more powerful machine without the stupid emmisons extras.
  6. Same as Bob above, I've run a 42 on a 660 milling, has to be perfectly sharpened though. Have a 32 for it but not used it since getting an 880. Usually use it with a 24 now, it just falls through wood. I'd say anything over 30-32 is pushing it for constant, full bore use.
  7. Seems that way. shame, they're a good compliment to an alaskan, or even a woodmizer if you're trying to squeeze on an oversize log and you want a straight edge. The kind of thing that sits on a shelf for all but one or two days a year, but pays for itself in a few minutes. It'll sell on ebay, most people here have moved on up to a bandmill by now.
  8. Dogs are great for keeping you going, even when it's not so simple. Such positive creatures.
  9. Found it on youtube. About 5 mins in he starts to explain it, just watching it myself now.
  10. Not really overloaded though, weighs about the same as many Americans! I know, it's a cheap shot.
  11. What colour is your bugatti's sub 750 tow behind?!
  12. You won't agree here, given your previous experience but I'm really happy with my st8 tow behind. Only have a couple of hundred hours on it (bought secondhand, now just over 1100 total hours) those kubota engines are good and the mix of own use and hire I've given the forst so far hasn't caused any issues. There are a few bits where you can see money saving going on, but they're simple enough to work on, or at least they look that way! Yet to use a 230 and I'm trying to step back from the tools but I'll keep what you said in mind.
  13. Cat piss sprays out the bottle easier though. On a slightly related note a bit of western red cedar crushed up and rubbed on the skin leaves a lovely smell, fresh thyme or basil for a more summery note. Beats any lynx or whatevers in an aerosol.
  14. Yes, a happy little 3 cylinder wc petrol could make a good machine. Price point would be the same as a diesel then, plus the extra weight would end up being shaved off on things like the frame and flywheel. In the long term it's more economical to buy a stronger unit that chips faster and get a towing licence. You could argue that it comes down to pricing. 5k (my estimate of the price difference, happy to be corrected,i havent checked) isn't a lot of money when you have it, but it takes a lot of graft to get it. Therefore the cheaper chipper becomes more attractive. Try telling a customer you need an extra 50 quid per man per day because your government ****************ed up your ability to buy a reliable machine.
  15. Yeah, nothing turns my missus on more than coming in wet, grumpy, stinking of two stroke and covered in bits of leylandii. A boot full of previously unnoticed dog shit really tips her over the edge.
  16. I take your point. For urban work and reductions they have a place. Saying that, how much of the value is down to the fact that 20 years ago the machines were simpler and better put together? A sad reflection on "progress"?
  17. This is the result of fitting a lawn mower engine on steroids where it should have been an industrial diesel. Equal blame should be shared between the accountants who thought it was a good idea, the design team who should have known better, the salesmen who told people it would do the job and those who bought these units thinking that it would save them money. The same can be said for the sub 750 chippers that shake themselves to bits. False economy imo.
  18. I once logged 5 acres of overgrown biomass willow (shudders at the memory!) We laid out roughly 12-18 inches deep over a slatted floor, then threw a layer of pallets on top and tipped in telehandler buckets on top and repeated 3 or 4 times. It was stems mostly, the tops were discarded. It was a month or two cut before logging. there was a bit of mould but nothing major. Selling it was a bit of an issue. Thankfully that end of it wasn't my problem.
  19. If you can find a proarc splitter they are good, robust machines, no longer being made and don't know if they were ever available in the uk but my first one did 10 years of personal and hire work and never gave any bother. I did swap out the engine after about 7 or 8 years as it was getting tired but that's to be expected. Horizontal type though, so maybe not what you're looking for..
  20. Some beech and macrocarpa from this week. Yes, the mill is overkill for most of the logs but it's the only milling bar I have for the 880 20230826_170314.mp4
  21. Im gonna say it... I've always reckoned there is a place for non voluntary medical testing within the worst groups of offenders. Why? It's far more accurate than animal testing. The test subjects are already being monitored 247. Very few will care if the tests cause uncomfortable side effects. Those selected deserve it. It may benefit society into the future turning a net cost (feeding and bedding murderers and rapists) into a long term benefit. (Cures/preventative drugs for chronic diseases) Obviously there are ethical concerns to be discussed and there must be zero question surrounding the guilt of the persons involved. Put to a vote, do you think it would pass into law? I'm not talking about Mengele type shit, but actual progressive medical research which, while it may harm a few will most likely benefit many.
  22. Same machine as hinowa or oil and steel as far as I know. Far simpler than today's machines but avoid if the plc is in any way damaged as they are no longer available. Also, not sure if it applies in uk but the single wall 1/4 inch hoses are also hard got now. Fantastic little machines when they work. Deathtrap if they aren't used and maintained correctly. Given you seem to know you're stuff I'd say it's a potential bargain.
  23. Must have missed that, I've only found out about him in the last month or so. completely by accident too. was on Instagram and money game was the track on some video and that led to one of those 3am youtube rabbit holes. I even went as far as buying a physical album to support him, first time in a decade or more... now to find something to play it on!
