  1. Looks scruffier in reality!
  2. Our own lane looks somewhat similar, lacks a house at the end of it though! It's been a great year for wildflowers, looking like a bumper crop of blackberries are on the way too.
  3. Called Palms over here. Ignorance. I don't even bother correcting them anymore!
  4. I've noticed my 501 builds pressure in the fuel tank on warm weather.. it may lead to pressure passing through the fuel lines and vapour getting into the carb. Releasing the fuel cap after use and before starting may help. My 501 has been faultless so far and is very easily started so it's just an observation I've made when refuelling and may not be related to your issue Maybe this will help, maybe not..
  5. Good read. Thanks for posting.
  6. Fair point, we already pay vrt, tax on fuel, vat on the vehicle itself, vat on repairs, annual cvrt/nct/mot charges, parking fees, extortionate insurance fees, cpc, blah blah etcetera etcetera. It's a bit much but that's a seperate issue, without some form of revenue collection we wouldn't have roads to drive on. I don't hate them, hate is far too strong a word, I more pity them/cannot understand them, how sad must their family lives be that they feel forced to endanger their own lives, damage their nuts and inhale the fumes of passing trucks then call it leisure. It's always nice to see families out in the countryside for a cycle, I'd welcome more of that and less of the hoards of reckless mamils.
  7. Mermaids minge? Like this?
  8. Oh crap, yeah I forgot, were all vegan now. My bad. Down with this sort of thing.
  9. What a terrible thing to do, put an air horn on a vehicle and go around scaring the bejaysus out of these poor people. Shame on you. (for not recording it and posting it!)
  10. Tidy enough job, most will regrow. People need to cop on. Ignorance is loud.
  11. I use a car, jeep, tractors and pay tax on every one of them seperately. Why should competitive/hazardous bike users be exempt? because they use man power not fossil fuel? Doesn't cut it for me, how often do you see the fuzz out on traffic management for these events, roads blocked or severely disrupted, peoples.travel times increased, truck drivers put under more pressure etc.. considering the levels of road disruption (completely unnecessary by the way, there is no need for these people to use the main roads for.this purpose, it's a choice they've taken upon themselves, thinking they are being healthy) a level of road taxation for those groups that decide to act collectively as a slow moving vehicle should be taxed as such. I do have a bike, but not a road racer.. I find a pedal through a forestry track far safer and more energizing than being an obstruction to others and endangering myself whilst sucking in diesel particles. Each to their own i guess.
  12. Had you understood my post correctly, which clearly you have chosen not to do, you would see that I am not anti bicycle, in a pedestrianised zone, car free city centre etc it makes great sense. On busy roads it does not. It's that simple. As a means of clean transport in densely populated areas it is ideal, as a means of intensive exercise in heavily polluted areas its downright stupid.
  13. 4 ton. That's a serious piece of kit. The one I'll be using has four extensions and 360 aswell.. on a remote too so more electrics than I would like for myself, but as it ain't mine so I'm happy to use it. Fixing it would be way beyond me! I reckon this one would pull the truck over too. Theres a self limiter once you go over the cab it slows it down and beeps annoyingly.
  14. It's gone too far! I'm all for genuine sustainability and sensible conservation, but who wants waterproof burgers?!
  15. Nice crane. What reach and height? I'll be going one day a week on this soon with the option to borrow it for my own jobs. 14 mtrs up, 12.5 out with 1.9 tons at max reach. The crane is a joy to use but that pallet fork yoke is the work of the devil.
  16. Gave the little echo a good run on these rings, mostly ash and beech with some sycamore, very dirty with grit as they were on the boundary of an old sand pit. Killed three chains. It was a tight squeeze getting them into the shed. Thankfully somebody had widened the lower portion of the door previously and the bucket just squeezed in. I enjoyed the trips up and down the lane, spotted a little fungal growth too..
  17. I fail to see how people can conclude that cycling on roads is good for your health. Forcing yourself to breathe deeply whilst travelling through a fog of diesel fumes, splashing through pools of filthy runoff water and roadside waste, inches from fast moving vehicles, many of whom have legitimate reason to be on the roads, it's not like they're out there as a hobby to piss off the mamils (middle aged men in lycra) all the while putting up to 50% of your body weight on yer gooch. I think time will tell regarding the health "benefits" of roadside cycling. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cycling as such, to work, school, mountainbiking, or even as anyone's sole mode of transport. In fact, those who ditch the automobile for the bicycle as their daily mode of transport should rightly be applauded. What does irk me is the brigade of fly swallowing morons who drive to a carpark with their bikes on show on some daft rack behind their executive cockwomblemobile, which adds to the pollution they are about to head off into, usually taking up the whole lane at half the speed of the traffic flow. Paying no road tax yet adversely affecting more road users than any other. I rarely meet cyclists on the scenic, undulating, quiet side roads yet find myself stuck behind hoards of sweaty men gleefully riding 5 or 6 abreast, strung out on the main thoroughfares. I fail to see the sense in it.
  18. So true.
  19. There goes my tea!
  20. Dairy free sprout milkshake for you sir? With extra mung bean salad? Would go well with those cow free leather boots you're wearing. I hope you're using sustainable fuel in that vegan chainsaw of yours? A blunt chain? Good cos sharp ones hurt the trees.
  21. May be worth checking boat yards, the 100 series were often used in lobster boats, small fishing boats etc.
  22. No issues with oiling the chain so far. Haven't noticed any oil seepage, but the shelves and back of the jeep are well oiled from years of leaky stihls and damaged hydraulic pipes etc. So you wouldn't tell at a glance. I'll have a look tomorrow.
  23. I really like the fact mine came with a sugi hara bar as standard. I really rate them. It's a torquey saw for sure. Might take a drill to the exhaust, I've been told they are rather choked up for emissions regs.
  24. 18 inches max. Has it's own pto pump on the delimber and it needs the best part of 100 hp behind it to keep up the pace on heavy stuff. No issues with parts, pump is casappa, parts off the shelf with a number of suppliers. Kesla took over/merged with patu and the 40 lf is basically the same machine refined. Oak leaf forestry can supply parts. I never needed any. They're built to last. The only issue I've had is getting the "feel" for the machine as I never utilised it much. Out of interest, how much for the one you're looking at? PM me if you like..
  25. Becoming an echo convert myself, picked up a 501sx to go beside the chipper and cross cut smaller stuff etc, fantastic machine, not as agile as a 550 but once run in it's got plenty of power.
