  1. They're all being used to rob atms before they have a chance to gather dust, never mind rust!
  2. Probably more on the purple side, but I may be wrong
  3. This may not be the plaice for it, but I bet theres something fishy about this mans condition. At least he's not floundering about down there. Some may say its being shellfish, cashing in on his hard luck.
  4. Echo hcr185 may be worth a look. I've bought a few echo bits over the last year and am very happy with each one so far. I picked up a secondhand hc 171, bit slow to pick up on the revs compared to the stihl 81 but give it that tenth of a second longer before you go cutting and it's not lacking in torque. Lighter to use than the stihl and anti vibe is good. Very well balanced too. Just seems not quite as strongly built to look at it.. but no trouble so far
  5. Yup. What woodworks said. Record. Wont go wrong. Keep an eye out for schools selling their old joiners tables, just be prepared to have the underside of it wedged full of chewing gum!
  6. Devils advocate here, would the hedgerows not take in a substantial amount of that co2? halving the amount of hedgerows to improve the road network will accommodate twice the amount of traffic (albeit at slightly better fuel economy). More vehicles will add extra co2 emissions, leaving a higher carbon footprint due to the destruction of 50% of the nearest carbon absorbers.. never mind losing much of the aesthetic value of the area, habitat and heritage.
  7. I thought it was a good question. A lot would depend on the employer in the instance of on site training, if they had poor habits or "improper" technique they may end up having candidates fail, not because of a lack of experience or being comfortable with the saw but for not doing it by the book. However, on balance, the onsite training idea would be more appealing to me, from both angles, novice looking for experience or prospective employer. Sadly the issue of insurance and responsibility is sure to rear its ugly and litigious head. What ifs and potential for accidents etc..
  8. ... partially true. The nutritional value of liquid slurry is very low in comparison to composted dung on straw. The lack of texture in slurry aids soil compaction and lessens the ground's ability to soak away surface water, leading to the necessity to deep plough and subsoil. On the other hand, composted dung, ie. With the straw at least partially broken down, adds to permeability and workability of soil as well as increasing fertility levels. This leads to both improved drainage in wet conditions and moisture retention in dry spells lessening the need to aggressively till the soil.
  9. Was talking to a lad today who has one at work. He reckons the 462 is the best saw in that range by a long way.. felt bad handing him a battered old 390 for the day!
  10. I genuinely thought this was a spoof.
  11. You wont go far wrong with the honda imo
  12. I got a local firm to knock together a screener from a honda gx 160 an 8x4 quarry screen a few springs and a weighted shaft on a belt drive. Works ok but makes an awful racket. Can be moved on forks or 3pt linkage
  13. Exactly! I was joking with the lad that was with me that some of the branches were bigger than the trees were on the cs32!
  14. I usually buy a few loads of spruce for the processor, generally in 3-3.2 meter lengths often referred to as 3.1 pulp, around these parts at least.. Decided to make the most of what was available here(all the wood is coming back to my yard) and cut myself a few lengths to top up next years softwood log pile (I should say stack, but it's more of a pile if I'm to be honest!)
  15. A few decent sized spruce this morning. You know they're big when you can cut 3.1 pulp from the branches! More to do on the same site, but will have to clear what's down to make room for the rest. Getting all the wood out could get messy if the rain doesn't let up!
  16. Charging a battery with the engine seized, seems unnecessary even with my limited mechanical knowledge! Poor form regarding the money, but such is life..
  17. Is it my imagination or have echo consistently made good saws, albeit seen in smaller quantities and with less choice than the big two.. or have I just missed the news on the dodgy echo?
  18. Getting the itch again?!
  19. Both brands have had good and bad models. Most newer stuff is built faster, cheaper and in larger quantities, it's just how things are. Generally a stihl user myself but you wont beat a 550xp,unless you have a 560xp!
  20. Porn
  21. Mog on the bog. Why I took a load of turf I do not know, yards already bursting with firewood.
  22. Nah, she passed out from the fumes before the air had built up.
  23. I must have her big sista, u1200. Still mornings, low loader on, heading up the hill out of the yard...
  24. Don't be giving them ideas, claims culture is already bad enough. Petrol fumes, pah! Try spending the day enveloped in mog smoke! I remember reading years ago that there's additives put into petrol to make its smell evocative and appealing to us. It's more a marketing ploy than a natural smell, keeps us from going battery/electric that little bit longer. Then again, I don't believe everything I read. Anyone else come across this?
