  1. I've got a huztl/farmertec complete saw and it seems ok, but in your position I'd probably go for the Meteor piston and cylinder kit. Just as well get the 50mm 372 kit and get a little more power out of it - unless it is an xtorq that you have in which case the piston and cylinder are the same.

    New 880

With 10:1 chain oil instead of two stroke, and three hours of steady mid throttle running while strapped to the roof of a transit?

Stoichiometric air to fuel ratio is 14.7:1 50:1 fuel oil mix is 2% oil, 33:1 Is 3% therefore a 1% decrease in actual fuel. That would take a saw running at stoic (unlikely I know) from 14.7:1 to 14.7:0.99. The actual difference in the air to fuel is tiny. I'm not sure many of us will be that accurate when mixing fuel anyway.
  4. Clutch bearing?
  5. We've got a 135 for use on the farm. Pleased with it so far. It was a little bugger to start and would cut out when cold, but it's improving with use and a little tweak of the idle speed screw.
  6. How long do you reckon stock of these saws will last for? Will there be many 372s still knocking around at dealerships at this point?

    Stihl 070

Huztl do a 090 top end that would go on it, if you're happy with fitting one of them? They sell a 070 parts kit too.
  8. Thanks both, when I'm less grumpy about it I'll strip it back down and try those things.
  9. I think the 371 is about to die. Ran a tank full of fuel through it this morning cutting up some large ash and all was fairly well apart from the chain running on, I suspected it was weak old clutch springs so swapped the clutch for another I had, started it back up and noticed the idle has increased significantly and that there is a new rattling sound from the saw. Have stripped it back so there is no clutch, oil pump drive etc and when there is a piston stop in the cylinder you can detect a tiny bit of play if you rotate the crank and a little clicking noise as you put pressure on and off of the piston by rotating the crank. I replaced the little end bearing and soaked it in 2 stroke oil before fitting and poured a little 2 stroke oil onto the big end bearing before rotating it a bit to ensure that it was well lubricated before rebuilding. Everything felt smooth and there was no play then. I'm assuming that despite cleaning the saw and ensuring that clean paper towel was stuffed in the crankshaft to stop debris getting in, something snuck past and has knackered the big end as there doesn't seem to be any play from the main bearings. What's the best thing to do? Strip it all back down again? Run it a bit longer to see if it dies? I've got the bottom end from a 365 which I can potentially use to rebuild it.
  10. What I find better is that I don't own a slide hammer. I'm afraid I can't give you a constructive response
  11. https://m.huztl.net/Chainsaw-Repair-Tools-c3056.html I would say have a go with mine, but I think you are the other end of the country from me.
  12. Not used that yet either. It's really simple and hopefully robust. Might strip out a 365 I got for parts and build it up with some huztl parts so will split the crank case with it then. Happy to take a few photos, videos etc and WhatsApp them over if you want?
  13. Think they will be ok. Apparently the seal puller is a copy of the stihl tool. The flywheel puller is really simple, and could be made at home, but it would cost more than £4 in time to drill the holes I imagine. There's a video of the seal puller being used in the huztl Facebook group.
  14. Chucked the 371 back together today. Didn't end up swapping the seals as they didn't get delivered, so will hang onto them to fit later. Had a little issue with the clutch bearing/clutch/clutch drum and lost the e-clip and washer. I think it was me being careless more than anything. Compression is definitely improved from before, and I'll find out what it's like cutting tomorrow. I assume it is best to run it in a little rich to start with while the ring beds in? I did get the huztl seal puller and flywheel puller which seem fairly good, although I didn't use the seal puller.

  16. A few of us at work looked at our tax contributions to various sectors and all agreed that each sector could do with more funding. Something that came up was that a £1 contribution from all households in the county could keep the recycling centres facing closures open all year. I agree a small increase could go a long way, as could the highest earners and corporations not avoiding their moral responsibilities. Funding the EU makes up about 0.7% of your total taxes.
  17. Taking a quote from here. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/how-much-do-the-1-01-and-001-percent-really-earn/ and here https://www.thebalancecareers.com/average-salary-information-for-us-workers-2060808 The average wage for the top 1% of earners is $1.4 million, while the average wage in America is $44,564. The lowest 20% of earners average wage is less than $10,000. There is a substantial disparity between the wages of these groups.
  18. Waiting for some bits to be delivered, but did a few little jobs on the 371 today. Replaced the fuel line and filter, cleaned up a few more bits of the saw. Removed the carbon build up from the exhaust port and gave it a bit of a polish. Cleaned all the old bits of gasket off the cylinder and measured the squish. Was getting readings of 0.5-0.45mm and have removed a little more carbon from the piston top since. I hope this will be ok? The old piston ring appeared to be a lot thinner opposite the gap, I assume this is where it has worn. Made up a new stop cable from the switch to the coil. Stripped the carb and found it looked in far better condition than I expected. Think I might just put a new set of gaskets etc in it and see how it runs.

That's why I quoted fullfact.org. There's no political affiliation, they just research claims and information given to see if there is any proof or justification. Well worth a look when there are elections etc.

Sorry it's definitely entirely my naivety, not your prejudice. There's definitely no studies out there showing anything that would contradict this. Have a look at fullfact.org sometime. Well worth your time.

If they're economic migrants then they are here to earn money, and therefore pay taxes and do contribute.
  23. Do I take that as you normally just manually hone the cylinder? I've got a few grades of wet and dry from polishing my huztl build ports.
  24. I think some have two rings. The huztl pistons have two rings, although you can just run with one apparently.
  25. Aye doesnt look to bad at all. Happy days Hopefully will start putting it back together this weekend. Got any tips for removing the carbon build up?
