  1. Where is it? A nice ac6 surface on ac20 binder might do the job. Just for cars I'm assuming? What soil type is it? Ought to consider run off from the surface. Water shouldn't run onto the highway.
  2. Waiting for a couple of bits to arrive including instant gasket so can't go too mad, but did some more work on it tonight. Cleaned the cases off to make sure there wasn't any more swarf knocking around and 'washed out' all the bearings well with wd40, spinning them between blasts to make sure they ran smoothly and then oiled them, spinning between squirts until they were well lubricated. Wound the bar studs in with some washers and a liberal oiling of the studs to make sure they slid in easily. Used the flywheel nut, a stack of washers and a good dose of oil on the crank to get the crank located in the flywheel side. Took it very slowly and kept checking the progress to make sure it didn't knacker anything. The crank spins ok. As soon as I have the instant gasket I'll use it and the crank gasket and hopefully get the crankcase bolted together.
  3. Awesome. Thank you. That makes sense. Going to do a few bits to it tonight, but waiting on a few bits I need to arrive still.
  4. Fingers crossed it turns up soon. Just looking through this kit makes the whole saw make more sense.
  5. Awesome. Great help, thanks. It was your post which really helped push me into getting it. Where did you get your piston rings from? I think I remember you said you got caber rings? I'm going to open up the exhaust and inlet ports a bit, the transfers in the base of the cylinder and I want to tidy up some unpleasant casting marks on one of the transfer ports, also mod the muffler a little. Looking forward to getting it up and running. Going to pick up some instant gasket and get to work on it over the next few days.
  6. I thought that might well be the case. Nevermind.
  7. Yes, found that last week. Have posted there but had conflicting answers on questions about pistons. Hopefully will figure it all out. When did you order the 200t? Mine was in the UK in 7 days and waited at the parcel force depot over the weekend.
  8. Evening. Got a bit bored recently so last Friday I ordered a huztl 372 'spare parts kit' with a 52mm big bore kit. Today it arrived so I've been digging through the box and investigating the contents. I've been doing a lot of reading on here and a few other sites and watching videos on YouTube to get a bit of an idea of what I should do with it all. I've done a lot of work on cars and tractors in the past, but never bothered with anything 2 stroke, so this will be a bit of an adventure. After doing a bit of research, I'm going to try to use as much of the parts in the kit as possible to see what happens and carry out a few modifications as I go. I've downloaded the workshop manual and have a 371 to check parts and construction against. Things I need to do are; Fiddle with the carb, as the choke butterfly seems sticky and the spring won't close it. Clean up the cylinder - there's a fair few poor bits of casting and I understand that the ports are fairly restrictive compared to oem. I've bought a flexi extension and some tungsten carbide bits for the dremel to do this. Clean and oil the crank and big end bearings well, there's a bit of swarf knocking around the bearings and I would like to see them run freely and clean. I expect I'll have a load of questions which I would be grateful for any advice on. Hopefully I'll get a good selection of pictures during the build which might help others doing this or undertaking maintenance on their own saws. Here is a picture of the lovely box full of stuff... Also, a picture of my first question... the seal on the pto/clutch side appears to be larger than the inside of the bearing, and the crank, and I don't expect it is going to actually seal against the crank. I understand that you need an o ring on this side to make it seal, but the gap feels a bit too big really. Is this normal, or have I got a crappy seal?
  9. I've had to encourage 4 or 5 out of the house over the course of the summer. Had to do some rapid googling to make sure it was the right variety first. Would be interested to see their nest, from a distance anyway.
  10. Thanks. I guess my best bet is to wait for it to arrive and then measure the rings that come with the piston, then order some that match.
  11. Mostly as it's a husqvarna copy? Haha. Yeah, I'm happy with ordering genuine parts, but not too sure what to order to fit the 52mm big bore kit. Would the rings from the 375k concrete cutter be correct?
  12. I got bored so have just ordered one, with the 52mm big bore kit. Where did you order the caber rings from? Might order some genuine circlips for the piston too. Thanks Tom
  13. The trouble is that people want instant gratification, replies, likes etc, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter provides that. Forums are slower, but for those who persevere they contain a lot of information and are far more useful. I have found that some members can put people off though, I was probably 10,000 posts into another forum, but got pissed off and frustrated with some of the members, the site owner and gave up.
  14. So did more cheap ones turn up tonight? I saw they were £608 this afternoon? Does seem rather fishy.
  15. How accurate are the moisture meters? Surely you could be testing the really dry outside of the log, the wet centre and the actual moisture content of the log as a whole be completely different to both of these values? I'm used to moisture meters for grain where you take a representative sample, grind it down and test that so it is more accurate.
  16. Black smoke is overfueling. Are the air filters clean and free from obstructions on the inlet?
  17. Afternoon. Trying to strip down a 268xp which appears to have had something heavy on top of it, like a tree or a tractor and chuck the damaged bits in the scrap bin. Might anyone know what size the head bolts are? I've a feeling they are 4.5mm hex, but it seems an odd size. Might anyone want a piston, crank, oil pump, clutch and flywheel when I get it apart?
  18. Took last week off work, so in betwee other tasks I have been working my way through a load of ash, beech and other bits of wood we've had lying in the yard for a couple of years, also worked on ringing up a large beech trunk we've had in a field for a year or so. Came up with the idea of using some of it as a nice bench for cutting up various other bits by nailing on two bits of leftover baton just before I finished cutting through it. The top is nice and big and slopes towards you, one of the attached stems provides a nice little table to sit the saw on the side.
  19. Yeah, you are right. It's definitely just me. Please accept my humblest apologies.
  20. I know that's a bit of a mouthful....
  21. Shouldn't you be turning this into some sort of innuendo by now? Something about an intruder on their knees in front of your non lethal weapon ought to do the trick.
  22. It's not laughable to want to protect your property, it's laughable that you've had a crap idea, there has been 8 pages of people telling you it is a crap idea and giving you better, more practicable alternatives, or advice that will protect your own liberty and yet you still carry on about using a toy to try to maim an imaginary lunatic who might be in your house.
  23. Cool, thought about it and was tempted to pop into mole country stores tomorrow and pick up some stihl ergos as they are on offer but ordered some class 2s online instead. Makes sense to go for greater protection.
  24. Hah. So, assuming I'm quite keen on my ankles, is class 2 the appropriate level of protection for 70cc saw?
