Dry pivot bushes on tipping ram / rear tipping hinges most likely, but sound will be exaggerated through an empty body, probably wont creak same with a load on. Lube it all up and should be sound [emoji106]

Aftermarket cranks are no more than £50, caber rings are less than £15 to your door. IF the cylinder and piston would go again as possibly stated then its worth a go imo, again if not an every day user. But if not all is as suggested then yeah to throw more money at it like you say is defo not worth it. Only the man himself can decide 🤷♂️ -

If the rest of the saw is serviceable and your not a big every day to day user of the saw (i feel a few knives coming my way now) then throw an aftermarket crank at it. Get some new Caber rings too if you think the piston and cylinder will go again. Worth a go from the sounds of your description. -
