  1. So my double cab Ranger is insured as commercial. Will it now be insured as a car? Or are the HMRC just doing their own thing?
  2. Lots of info in this post about sssi woodland etc.
  3. I know the OP has decided not to go ahead and I don't blame him. The attached is useful info for anyone in a similar position. Also FC will liaise with NE on your behalf so only the one application now needed. Managing woodland SSSIs and ancient woodland with ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK
  4. We insure our tractors, pickup, van and buildings through NFU. Quotes are usually competitive though not cheapest but service is first class and trailers and implements for tractors are covered under vehicle policy. Claims are no hassle.
  5. Bought a small ash woodland last year fully aware of dieback possibility. No sign of it yet and FC have approved management plan to basically thin carefully and just see how it goes, replanting as required. Some of the energy companies will supply trees and guards foc and we have used them to replant windblow areas in our other mainly Norway Spruce woodland. Elm in that wood dies off then regrows quite successfully till it gets to about 12- 14" dia. Not barren at all. Woodland needs managing whatever species in it, they don't just stand still.
  6. And it won't repeat on you after you eat it.
  7. Get a reputable arborist to have a look at it. Unfortunately we get similar exit holes in some of our Norway Spruce in our wood. Tree usually dies and is soft at base. Looks very soft where it's come away. Needs looking at asap as may be a hazard.
  8. Bought one of these a couple of years ago works well even on larger diesel engines, started tractors. HILKA PRO-CRAFT 83850400 400A LI-ION POWER BANK £82 Screwfix
  9. They already do it's called Capital Gains Tax. So being cynical maybe the government are quite happy to drive private landlords out of the sector and sell up, nice little tax income for them. Perhaps if everyone stopped bashing private landlords and focussed on the government/councils providing social housing to meet the need whether it be prefab or whatever, the lack of which is the real underlying problem, then a lot of the pressure on house prices/rent levels might reduce.
  10. I bought a couple from Lidl must be 4 or 5 years ago both going strong. use them indoors and out, been the best tapes I've ever had.
  11. Local Wildlife trust may alsoo be worth a try.
  12. Ridiculous price, just been quoted a quarter of that to remove multiple tall ash stems which will require climbing. Includes chipping brash and leaving logs. Have used this guy before he is professional, running his own business and not short of work. Get some more quotes.
  13. Some landlords don't care, some tenants don't care. We care, that's it, nothing special about it, it's just what we do. If more people cared the world would be a better place.
  14. I used a high temp sealant - been in 6-7 years no problems at all.
  15. Couldn't agree more never could see the point of this and still can't.
  16. When we had vandalism in our wood Police were happy to use photos from our trail cameras. Didn't get to court as offenders identified and parents paid for damage and youngsters wrote individual apologies. They still had a visit from the law pointing out how lucky they were not to end up in court.
  17. Really? and if there are no private landlords who is going to house those who can't afford to buy or don't want to? Councils haven't got anything. I've had people in tears because they are within weeks of being homeless and yes we did house them. We've reduced rents when tenants have been having problems, fed pets and cleaned houses when they've been rushed into hospital to mention just a few things. Have you heard of capital gains tax? Yes the government does have a lot of any increase in value. We're not all money grabbers, some of us actually care believe it or not.

Find most are good for me, helpful in leaving parcels safely if we're not about. Only one I don't find very good are Evri who have a bad reputation in the Rushden area. Always make sure I have a brief word with them to see how their day is going and sympathetic noises if required.
  19. Bear in mind home owner is still resposible for the length of drain from their property until it connects to the shared drain. Flats are generally connected to a common drain then going to public sewer, owner of the building is responsible for drains with in property boundary. Sewers and drains explained | United Utilities WWW.UNITEDUTILITIES.COM Helping to explain responsibility for sewers and drains
  20. This is surely what happens with pre-planning advice currently? Don't think anyone TO or planners would actually be writing the application.
  21. As a landlord yes they should be and I certainly would resolve this. Also I would be pissed if my tenants started bringing contractors in to do work on the structure of my properties without my prior approval.
  22. Spark Arrestor fell off my 450e Husky, first I knew was back of my hand getting very hot and part of top cover had melted. Fixed under warranty. So if it's getting hot the cause of that heat i.e. sparks will go to the next part in line whatever that is.
  23. In my days in the steelworks used to work on the overhead cranes at 90ft+ without batting an eyelid. Didn't like the lime bay crane though as access was by walkway which went over the crane which was at 110ft so walkway must have been 130ft. Like you Eggs it had open grills which wasn't good. Only time I felt bad with heights was on a ski lift in Aviemore - the open two seater type of thing. Funnily enough the Mrs who hates heights was ok with that.
  24. The 2005 series was epic as well.
