  1. As Les mentioned, it’s easier to drill holes through the ladder rungs, then pack em where needed. [emoji106]
  2. Well done [emoji106] Are you using a ripping chain? Instead of cutting the log pith to pith, use it as a reference to cut slabs. Often a trunk with uneven tension and compression will “banana” when cut pith to pith. Welcome to the wonderful world of milling[emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. I run a 30” full comp full chisel on my 461. Buried in oak ash walnut etc. [emoji106]
  4. 2.5 is better than 2.4 for milling. Especially the bigger stuff. But that’s mainly table tops and desks. Ideally 3.1 would work with soft and hard. [emoji106]
  5. Where abouts are you based? What sort of stems do you cut? [emoji106]
  6. Satisfying fell[emoji16] Tell me it’s getting milled not ringed? Some nice colour there[emoji106]
  7. I regularly buy hardwood for £100 a ton, and I’d buy 30”+ larch, cedar,DF up to £80. Roadside. I pay more for top grade character. [emoji106] If you can deliver loads less than an artic there’s a lot of small sawmills who would be interested. [emoji106]
  8. Hardwood milling logs 20”+ and oversized softwood milling logs 30”+ Millers are always after decent logs. [emoji106]
  9. Get either. Both are brilliant saws. I’d even go as far as to say “reliable”. [emoji106]
  10. Anytime bud [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. Yep. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  12. Finally got the last of my stuff moved. Needs a bit of organising... [emoji106]
  13. Thanks Les, Only the the lintels are reclaimed. [emoji106]
  14. It’s all air dried stock I’ve bought in to bridge the gap until mine is ready. Mostly 10-12% mc All British grown and milled. (Except for the huge lintels, I’ve no idea where they originated but I suspect uk). And mostly from various arbtalk millers [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] The second room is the drying room for my cut stock. [emoji106]
  15. Cheers Gobby, The big yellow cranes controls and motors are knackered. I think I can use the blue one, but I’ll just have a chain hoist on it. I’ve only got this place for 12 months before it gets demolished for housing. Otherwise I’d be getting them both fixed. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  16. Thanks mate, I’m working at it. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  17. Anyone working with you regularly, SE or not will be classified as an employee. It’s about average hours over 3 months or something... Also whether they work for others etc. It’s a minefield. Which nearly everyone in arb/construction etc ignores. ??‍♂️
  18. No, the wooden handle one. I’m not a fan of the metal ones. [emoji106]
  19. Ha ha ha. No. 7 days a week like a nutter. [emoji106]
  20. Luck, fluke and lots of grafting!!! [emoji106]
  21. There was until I filled it full of logs ?[emoji106]
  22. Opened a timber and slab shop!!! [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
